Have a great LONG weekend and be ready for FULL DAYS starting on Tuesday, September 3rd. Posted on August 29, 2019 by Sonya Fowler. Thank you parents for attending the parent meeting today. I hope the message was clear that we are a TEAM and the teacher and parents MUST work together to help each child LEARN and GROW LOTS this year!! The kindergarten expectations have changed in just the last few years- read by 3rd grade law- and there is a lot expected of them! Over 80 sights words to know, reading at independent 4 by the end of the year with comprehension skills!, ANNNNND a whole math curriculum. It is an exciting time for you (parents!) and your child. I am excited to be the leader (coach) of this TEAM and look forward to a wonderful year. PARENTS, please make sure the I-chat form to volunteer is filled out in the office ASAP– they will need a copy of your driver’s license or state ID. This MUST be filled out to help in the classroom and to go on field trips– thank you!! ROOM PARENTS- if you are willing to help in the classroom or help me with “secretarial” type tasks or would like to help organize classroom holiday parties, please send with a remind message with your availability. I am hoping to have a few consistent “helpers”- for example, Someone that can come in EVERY MONDAY from 10:05-10:50 while the children are in science to help with sight word rings/reading bags. Someone that can come in EVERY FRIDAY from 1:10-1:55 to help with POETRY notebooks while the children are in art. Someone to come in during READING TIME (mornings) to help with students one-on-one to learn letter ID, sight words, and extra reading practice. THANKS IN ADVANCE TO ALL PARENTS FOR HELPING TO CUT YOUR CHILD’S SIGHT WORD CARDS THAT WERE SENT HOME TODAY!!!! PLEASE RETURN ON TUESDAY so we can start reading bags and sight word homework! TUESDAY is a FULL DAY and pick up will be at 3:30 on the small playround by door 4. We will come out to our yellow line and students MUST HIGH 5 ME BEFORE THEY LEAVE EACH DAY! Thanks for all you do! Love, Mrs. Fowler

Parent Meeting tomorrow (THURSDAY) at 12:00 noon in the classroom. Posted on August 28, 2019 by Sonya Fowler. Please be on time! Students will line up outside on small playground at 8:25 and students ONLY will enter the building when the bell rings (Parents cannot come inside tomorrow- this will help ease the transition for everyone- trust us, they will be fine and we will call you if we need anything!!) **Please send in school supplies ASAP so we can start our routines. Tomorrow for morning work we need BLACK THIN DRY ERASE markers (EXPO), so if you are able to send it tomorrow it would be greatly appreciated!!! Also the 2 pencil boxes are the only items that NEED YOUR CHILD’S NAME ON THEM (first and last please)** Students will get to play outside for recess (wear comfortable clothes and CLOSED TOED SHOES). Students will eat lunch in the cafeteria and have 3 choices for school lunch: 1st: Crispy Fish and Chips (tater tots) 2nd Choice: Thai Veggie Stir Fry With Rice 3rd Choice: Cheesy Nachos California Vegetables will be served with all choices and a fresh salad bar will also available for all students. 🙂 PLEASE TALK TO YOUR CHILD ABOUT THESE CHOICES SO THEY ARE READY TO MAKE THEIR CHOICE IN THE MORNING- thank you! Students will bring home their BLUE OAKMAN FOLDERS everyday!!!! Please read the letter about behavior and check their “color” for the day and initial next to it. –> This is another important way that we communicate. I try to check folders at the beginning of the day so if any doctor notes, etc. please put them in there. Also the REMIND TEXT message is the BEST way to let me know important information in real time, such as if your child is sick, could not complete homework for a specific reason, lost something, etc. See you at the parent meeting tomorrow! Hope to keep it quick, by 12:30 we hope to be done and students will be dismissed with you for the LONG WEEKEND (No school Friday or Monday). Thanks for all your support. Love, Mrs. Fowler
