Homework— (3 things!!!)

1. Oakman Folder- sign and return behavior calendar for September!!— talk to your child about their color… what could they work on? praise for good, etc.  make this a connection from school and home and talk about it everyday— learning “how to go to school” (behavior) is a BIG PART of kindergarten!

2. Reading/Math Bag-Please take 15 minutes to “read” each night we talked about three ways to read a book… *read the pictures, *. read the words, *. retell the story. and practice ABCs using chart.

3. Math Homework Workbook– Module 1, lesson 4 on page 17. (homework helper is page 15) .

***Make sure all 3 things come back to school in backpacks!!! It was another long day – please send in reusable water bottles with your child’s name on it so that they can keep it on the table and drink water all day long. Also, please make sure your child is going to bed early so they can get 10-12 hours of sleep and be ready to learn at school.

Reminders:

On Monday, September 9th in the morning we will do on first NWEA test on the computer. This is another way that we look at where students are at and it helps us gear our teaching to student needs and place students in reading groups. The test will be taking 3 times a year and this first one is just to get a baseline of where we are starting the school year. There is nothing to study or practice at home it is simply a test to see where your child is at the beginning of the school year. Thursday, September 12, 2019, we will take the math NWEA test as well. We take the test in both math and reading. Monday we will take math first.

Mega Book Sale

The wait is over! The MEGA book sale will start tomorrow and Friday. We will be selling ALL books for .25 cents! Make sure you bring in your loose change tomorrow and Friday! Great books for building your home library!

We are working on seeing objects in a set (up to 5) and counting the “math way” on our fingers!- ask your child about counting to 5 the “math way” The second video is for parents- we are only working to 5 right now.
