Homework— (3 things!!!)

1. Oakman Folder- sign and return behavior calendar for September!!— talk to your child about their color… what could they work on? praise for good, etc.  make this a connection from school and home and talk about it everyday— learning “how to go to school” (behavior) is a BIG PART of kindergarten! ***PLEASE FILL OUT LUNCH SURVEY!!!! and FIELD TRIP PERMISSION SLIPS AND MONEY ARE DUE ON Tuesday!

2. Reading/Math Bag-Please take 15 minutes to “read” NEW books each night we talked about three ways to read a book… *read the pictures, *. read the words, *. retell the story. and practice ABCs using chart.

3. Math Homework Workbook– Module 1, lesson 10 on page 43 (homework helper is page 41) . ***REMEMBER 1 page each night!! *****.

4. Please read the poem and return on Wednesday, September 18.

***Make sure all 3 things come back to school in backpacks!!! It was another long day – please send in reusable water bottles with your child’s name on it so that they can keep it on the table and drink water all day long. Also, please make sure your child is going to bed early so they can get 10-12 hours of sleep and be ready to learn at school.

Poetry books are coming home today in READING BAGS! Please read the first poem with your child making sure they point at each number and word as they read- they can even do it along with this song! Parents please sign the inside cover of their POETRY BOOK after you read it together and return tomorrow inside their reading bag, thank you!

TONIGHT night is OPEN HOUSE from 6:00-7:30 (there will by a FREE ice cream social at 5:00 by PTA!!!)- please plan to come with your child. They will be so excited to show you all around the classroom AND school— where they go to gym, music, art, science, library, etc! There will also be sign up sheets for PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES in November. Hope you can make it!

Open House and Ice-Cream Social Today

Oakman Open House: Come and meet your child’s teacher and tour their classroom and school between 6:00 and 7:30pm.

Please also consider joining our Parent Teacher Association (PTA). Your $10 contribution helps support our students and school.

Please return your field trip permission slip with $13.00 per person, parents may join us on the bus if you have an I-Chat and you also pay $13.00. Please return with the permission slip and money by Monday, September 16, 2019.

Also note that tomorrow Thursday morning we will take NWEA test in math on the computers. The students did their best on Reading Monday and we ask the same for Thursday. More information about this TEST will come soon but know that we take it 3 times a year and when we take it again in the WINTER we will look for scores to GO UP (INCREASE) as this is a test that helps us to monitor student growth over time.
