Homework and Reminders 10-30-19

Homework— ( 4 things!!!)   and NEW Library Books (Can keep at home but MUST return on Monday!)

  1. Oakman Folder- sign and return behavior calendar for OCTOBER! PLEASE SEE THE ORANGE HALF SHEET AND SEND IN $2.00 with your child TOMORROW so they can participate in TRUCK or TREAT at the end of the day on Thursday, October 31 (This is separate from our classroom party that will be in the morning at at lunch).Letter Ll bag! Today we talked about the letter Ll and its /l/ sound, like in lion, leaf, log, etc. Please find 3 at home that start with the l sound and put them in this bag for your child to share in class, if you didn’t bring your Ll bag today please bring it tomorrow Oct. 31.

2. Reading bag- NEW SIGHT WORDS ARE IN THEIR BAGS— I, like, the, see, we,  go, can, she, a, atis, was, willhe, has, and on. Practice each night to MEMORIZE THESE WORDS!* And work on using them correctly when speaking in COMPLETE SENTENCES for example: He (when talking about a boy) vs. She (when talking about a girl). And “on” like the book is “on the table” (see picture– we will be learning more position words soon so start using at home— under, above, in between, next to, in the middle, etc.)

3. READING GROUP BAG – Read and Re-read for fluency books to be ready to WRITE about our reading– work on letter sounds!!! (Also can you login code and password to read/listen to more books on the computer)

Please fill in log each day!!! Please use the pointer finger to put their finger under the first letter of each word as they read. Please read the book at least 3 times and sign the paper inside their bags so I know they did their job! Please send the reading bag back to school each day. ***IF YOU HAVE FLUENCY DOWN, PARENTS PLEASE EXTEND the reading by asking questions such as:

  • Find the WORD “the” on this page.
  • What LETTER do you see at the beginning of the WORD?
  • What LETTER do you see at the end of the WORD?
  • After reading, can you RETELL what happened?? What happened in the beginning, middle, and end?

4. Math Homework- Lesson 36 homework page 147– (helper on page 145).– I will check tomorrow (Or if a parent can volunteer, please let me know on remind 9-9:30 tomorrow???)

Deborah Diesen is an American children’s book author. Her book The Pout-Pout Fish was chosen by Time Magazine as a Top 10 Children’s Book of 2008. It was also selected for the Michigan Reads! literacy program. Diesen lives in Grand Ledge, Michigan. In addition to a writer, she is the financial manager for a nonprofit.
