Homework and Reminders 11-15-19

Homework— ( 4 things!!!)  PLEASE SEND IN A HEALTHY SNACK FOR NOVEMBER ASAP– we have 21 students in our class thank you! Currently we have only a few snacks! Please remember we are a peanut free classroom- thank you.

  1. Oakman Folder- sign and return behavior calendar for NOVEMBER!

2. Reading bag- NEW BOOKS AND NEW SIGHT WORDS ARE IN THEIR BAGS— I, like, the, see, we,  go, can, she, a, atis, was, willhe, has, onin, and, you, and up. Practice each night to MEMORIZE THESE WORDS!* And work on using them correctly when speaking in COMPLETE SENTENCES for example: He (when talking about a boy) vs. She (when talking about a girl). And “on” like the book is “on the table.” ***NEW, I went “in” the door. The balloon is “up” in the sky.

3. READING GROUP BAG — please read and fill in reading logs each day!!! Read and Re-read for fluency books to be ready to WRITE about our reading– work on letter sounds!!! (Also can you login code and password to read/listen to more books on the computer)

Please fill in log each day!!! Please use the pointer finger to put their finger under the first letter of each word as they read. Please read the book at least 3 times and sign the paper inside their bags so I know they did their job! Please send the reading bag back to school each day. ***IF YOU HAVE FLUENCY DOWN, PARENTS PLEASE EXTEND the reading by asking questions such as:

  • Find the WORD “the” on this page.
  • What LETTER do you see at the beginning of the WORD?
  • What LETTER do you see at the end of the WORD?
  • After reading, can you RETELL what happened?? What happened in the beginning, middle, and end?

4. Math Homework-MODULE 2 LESSON 6  Homework page 177– (helper on page 175).

***Make sure all 4 things come back to school in backpacks!!!

FOOD DRIVE— almost to our goal!!!

We are at 103 items of food, help us meet our goal of 200 and send in some cans, boxed foods (cereal, pasta, noddles, rice, etc.) or jars (peanut butter, jelly, etc). The students are really excited and hopeful to get to 100!!!

**Check folders for SIGHT WORD TEST that students did today with me the score is out of 20 points for 20 words.

RHYMING WORDS Songs! Please work on this skill as it is tested on the NWEA test. Please extend these rhyming songs/games and ask your child to say another word that rhymes with the pair… for example… “tack and crack rhyme” what’s another word that rhymes, “back, sack, etc.” –this is in the last (most challenging song) so you can pause it to ask them to come up with another word.

Letter Qq bag! Today we talked about the letter Qq and its /q/ sound, like in queen, quiet, quail etc. Please find 3items at home that start with the q sound and put them in this bag for your child to share in class tomorrow (Friday, November 15th). Thank you!

5. POEM BOOKS- read new Poem, “Jack-in-the-Box” and discuss rhyming words and capital letters, ending marks, etc. Review old poems and sign- I will collect books on THURSDAY (tomorrow)!

Letter Pp bag! Today we talked about the letter Pp and its /p/ sound, like in popcorn, pig, pretzel Please find 3 items at home that start with the p sound and put them in this bag for your child to share in class (Thursday, November 14th ). Thank you!
