Dear Families,
We’re excited to announce that our school community will be participating in the OPEN National Field Day event on Friday, May 8 th!

Field Day is an important tradition at our school. It is a significant day for our students and our staff, and we feel that in these incredibly challenging times this national event is a unique way that we can stay connected as a community and support one another in a fun and meaningful way.
OPEN (Online Physical Education Network) is a national public service organization that provides curriculum and training support to more than 90,000 teachers in all 50 states. We will be using their resources and social media network to help us organize our school’s
participation in #NationalFieldDay. All #NationalFieldDay events are designed to be done indoors or outdoors using common
household items. You won’t be asked to purchase any specialized equipment or supplies.
Here’s how it will work:
 Our school is now registered as a participant in this event. Families can choose to register as well, but it’s not a requirement.
 The event website is www.openphysed.org/nationalfieldday.
 As a part of registration, we will receive Field Day Friday email updates each week with
new resources that we will share with you.
 You can also find updates via social media using #NationalFieldDay.
 By April 17 your family will receive a set of event cards that you can use to begin practicing. You will also receive a participant practice sheet for tracking progress.
 Your family will be asked to choose a minimum of 4 events to complete on Field Day.
However, you may complete as many events as you’d like to.
 From May 3 thru 7, we will follow #NationalFieldDay and watch the Field Day Torch travel across the country in preparation for the main event.
 On May 8, our entire school will participate in events, complete an official score card, share photos and videos through our school’s approved platforms, and participate nationally on social media using #NationalFieldDay.
 After the event, your student will submit their scorecard via Google Drive (or other school approved method) to their physical education teacher.
 Every student that completes at least 4 events will receive an OPEN National Field Day certificate.

We will continue to send you weekly updates on this fun and festive event. We appreciate your cooperation and are hopeful that your entire family will use it as a fun and meaningful way to be physically active together and with our entire school community.

Stay well,
Ms. Southers

Raz Kids and Zearn Participation WILL be part of FULL participation this week so make sure to get 20 minutes on EACH program EACH day!!! You can do it!! Beak up the time through out the day.. these programs are designed to be independent. Please let me know if any questions, concerns, tips, or help if needed with programs or student motivation!!

Here is the last 7 days on Raz Kids… Time should be AT LEAST 60 minutes by the end of the week (recommend 20 minutes each day but if one day is really busy or hard, try to do some extra the next or “make up” time on Friday or the weekend).

Last week, I had 8 friends (highlighted times) who did NOT have at least 60 minutes on RAZ. This week if you do not have at least 60 minutes, you will not be able to earn “ALL” participation points. You can do it!! 20 minutes each day, break up the time with brain breaks or go noodles songs if needed!!!

Here is the video of Mrs. Rawson explaining how to do RAZ KIDS if you need a refresher– remember to 1. listen 2. read and record 3. take quiz for EACH BOOK!!!

Zearn Kindergarten Level tracks your activities and shows me your last log in, so I will be comparing from the start of the week (shown below) to the end (Sunday, May 10th) at HOW MANY ACTIVITIES you have completed THIS week. It should be AT LEAST 4!!

Friends on FIRST GRADe ZEARN level, I can track your activities for the past 7 days and need to see AT LEAST 4 completed activities THIS WEEK for you to get “ALL” participation points on our weekly class log.

I am hoping more students finish numbers 1-20 this week and are able to MOVE UP to the FIRST GRADE ZEARN PACE!! You all are soooo smart and I know you can do it!! @0 minutes each day- and if one day is super busy or hard, try to do some extra the next or “make up” time on Friday or the weekend).
