More Retelling Homework!

Tonight Students are bringing home a paper with the Sentence: “I know an old lady who…”  They are to practice RETELLING this story (video below) pointing to words in the sentence and filling in the objects by using their pictures in ORDER (in bag with numbers) to RETELL the story.  Please help them to remember AT THE END, she sneezes (we practiced the BIG ACHOOOO a lot today!!!) to make the scarecrow.

Homework

1. Folder— sign behavior calendar FOR OCTOBER! Sight word “I” paper

Letter Nn bag!  LAST CHANCE!!!! Still missing several!!!

2. Reading Bag-Practice ALL 5 sight word cards including NEW word “I”-  See if they can find this new sight word in their books! work on name puzzle, ABC chart (identifying letters and sounds–try out of order!), each child has  NEW books to practice “reading the pictures” (you can read the words for the to practice listening to reading).   All students also have gotten a black and white paper book from their READING GROUP… practice pointing to each word and READING THE WORDS in this book (three times)—they should be able to do it mostly on their own– please check in and monitor so they are practicing correctly!

3. Math Bag- using number chart to practice counting and number recognition, use counting cubes to work on one-to-one with counting.  NEW!!! students made a “I can Make Ten” book that they can practice reading and making the numbers to match the ten frames with their fingers, See example below

TOMORROW Wednesday (October 18th) is a late start day.  School will begin at 9:30 and Breakfast at 9:00- Please be ON TIME!

We are collecting $1.00 donations for the BURN DRIVE!!  The firefighters will be here on Friday to talk to us about fire safety and Oakman would like to make a donation to them so please send in $1.00 with your child!

Today we talked about the letter Nn and its /n/ sound, like in nickel, nose, necklace etc. Please find 3-5 items at home that start with the n sound and put them in this bag for your child to share in class tomorrow (Tuesday, October 17th).  Thank you!
