Homework & Reminders 4-9-18

 1. Folder— sign behavior calendar for April!!  Fill in new orange reading log with at LEAST 15 minutes of reading (Oakman Read at home pledge).  This time should include reading group books and sight words!!

2. Reading Bag- Please read ALL books in your bag, especially reading group books!  Practice ALL 41 sight word cards including NEW word “one.”

3. Math Bag– Practice using 100 chart to count to 100 by 1’s, 5’s, and 10’s.  Try without chart! Try in a song! Try writing numbers!  (MIX IT UP! MAKE IT FUN!) Check out our new homemade rekenrek to add and subtract to 20.

4. Spelling Notebook- write the words three times each!!!

5. Green Math Work Book for MODULE 4— please complete page 21 for homework to match our classwork (lesson 6).  We are working on making a story to match our number bond.  For example 2 soccer balls and 1 football make 3 balls.

Reminders:

Please send in an April snack for our class.  We have 16 students.

Join us for Oakman’s Family Math Night

Math Night is scheduled for Thursday, April 12th, 2018 from 5:00-6:00. This will be a free event at Oakman! The first 75 families to return the RSVP form and attend the event will receive a free $15 game coupon!!! The coupon can be used at the event. All games for sale range from $3.00-$25.00! Please return the RSVP form with your child ASAP. If your child needs another form please have them see Mrs. Dakhlallah.

2. Reading Bag- Please read ALL books in your bag, especially your reading group ones and the extra practice leveled ones!!!!!!!!!***Practice ALL 40 sight word cards including NEW word “blue.”

**Parents please read storybooks to your child over break and ask them questions like the following cards:

6.  Read all of your poems to your mom, dad, sister, and your brother.

Reminders:

Have a wonderful spring break and remember to keep reading! Students should be able to read their LEVELED books in their bags mostly independently.  Use the prompts on the NEW strategy bookmark they have in their bags when they come to a word they do not know—DO NOT GIVE THEM THE WORD OR LET THEM GUESS— they should be able to use their strategies to figure it out!!! They need this skill in order to go to 1st grade so practice! practice! practice!

  1. Folder— sign behavior calendar for March!  If you have the yellow sheet for math night (oldest siblings only got them), PLEASE RSVP and TURN IN TOMORROW to earn $15 towards a new math game!!!!

  1. Folder— sign behavior calendar for March!

KEEP your LAST MINION READING LOG in FOLDER all WEEK to record your minutes on the back (write your name on the back, fill in and READ for 15 minutes each night!!!!! )

 ** If you read 15 minutes EACH NIGHT (Oakman Read at Home Pledge!) you will raffle tickets at the end of the week to be enter into a drawing to go to a SPECIAL MINION THEMED PARTY at the end of the month hosted by Mrs. McMahon.

****Reading logs will be collected tomorrow (Wednesday!!!)
