Letter Bb bag! Today we talked about the letter Bb and its /b/ sound, like in ball, boy, banana etc. Please find 3-5 items at home that start with the b sound and put them in this bag for your child to share in class tomorrow (Tuesday, September 18th). Thank you!

Homework & Reminders 9-13-18

  1. Oakman Folder- Sign and return behavior calendar for September— parents please initial next to the circle for today (September 12th).   **Please complete the letter Rr bag and bring items that start with the /r/ sound to share tomorrow!!!
  2. Reading/Math Bag-Please take 15 minutes to “read” the NEW early readers in your child’s bag.  Remember there are 3 ways to “read” a book!  Also, practice counting using the 100s chart (point to each number as you count). Use your NEW pointer finger to read and/or count the words on each page.  Also, practice sight word “the” on ring and find in books!!!

  3. Math- green workbook read page 29 together and then complete Lesson 7 page 31 in workbook don’t tear it out leave it in the workbook and return to school tomorrow.  

  4. ***For those familiar with CLEVER and our online learning tools, please use your child’s username (blue number) and password (red number on back of card) to begin using online learning… I have a link to ABCya games on my page (this is what we are using in class to start). ***

Step by Step directions will be sent home soon so students can begin using online learning tools as part of their homework time.

Reminders:

Open House is Thursday 6-7pm, hope you can make it!

Friday is a half day for all students. Dismissal is at 11:45 (No school lunch).

Dear Parents,

I am so excited that our class has been sponsored to receive one free book a month for 10 months to build your library at home.  Did you know kids who read for just 20 minutes a day are more successful in school and life.  We have been discussing three ways to read a book 1./ read the pictures, 2./ read the words, and 3./ retell the story.  I will send the reading bag home each night for you to read with your child using the pointer I gave them to follow the words.  Please enjoy the books and the special time with your child to read together.  Also I sent the first sight word home in their reading bag on the sight word wheel “I” practice the words daily and try to find them in books together.  Thank you so much, let the reading begin!

Use your NEW pointer finger to read and/or count the words on each page.  We got our first sight word today “I” please look at the sight word wheel in their reading bags.  Make sure it is in the reading bag each day when it comes back to school.

We will have NWEA testing tomorrow for READING is the morning and READING in the afternoon.  If you are able to bring in a “special HEALTHY” snack such as apple or banana, let me know!  We will test at 9 am so I plan to give the students a small snack in the morning.
