Homework & Reminders for the week 3-13-20

We know this is a stressful time for everyone. We will all figure it out together! Please refer to our blog daily and the remind app for our daily activities. Thank you in advance for your support and understanding we are a “TEAM”!

  1. Oakman Folder- sign Behavior calendar for MARCH!!!** 🙂 🙂
  1. Reading bag- ***45*** TOTAL NEW SIGHT WORDS ARE IN THEIR BAGS— come, for, are, said, this, one, little, play, me, here, am, do, not, who, with, I, like, the, see, we, go, can, she, a, at, is, was, will, he, has, on, in, and, you, up, look, it, my, to, dog, want, yes, have, no, and her. Practice each night to MEMORIZE THESE WORDS!
  2. READING GROUP BAG — TODAY Everyone got a new book or 2 to read three times each tonight, have someone sign when you’re finished. READ every day and focus on fluency and comprehension. To move UP reading levels students need to be able to read the words accurately and COMPREHEND (understand what I read). After reading books, please practice using the handout for the “retelling rope” see picture below!! (Don’t forget to ask your child– what was your favorite part of the story and WHY? or what did this story remind you of?) Story Retelling is KEY to comprehension!!! See if your child can tell you the following from their books in their bag, library book, and/or NEW book from this week Duck, Duck, Dinosaur and I Love You Because You’re You!!

3. Math Homework MODULE 4 Book “Learn” (School workbook) page 119 and 120, Green Workbook “Succeed” (Homework) Lesson 28 homework helper page 111 homework page 113.

4. Spelling: Take the test using a piece of paper number 1-7 have someone read you the word and you write the answer by the number. 1. look 2. my 3. at 4. run 5. sun 6. fun 7. bun then read them this sentence to complete, “We had fun in the sun”. Then challenge them to try one sentence themselves using the sight words and the ___un family. When you’re finished take a selfie with your spelling test and post it on the remind app!

5. NEW library book were chosen Tuesday!! Use these for minutes for reading log challenge for MARCH IS READING MONTH!!! ** 20 minutes every day!!!*** and working on retelling stories in sequence (order) — what happened in the beginning, middle, and end— we are doing better with characters and setting but having trouble with remembering the order of events.
