Letter Ii bag!
Today we talked about the letter Ii and its /i/ sound, like in igloo, insect, iguana, etc. Please find 3-5 items at home that start with the i sound and put them in this bag for your child to share in class tomorrow (Thursday, October 19th). Thank you!
2. Reading Bag-Practice ALL 5 sight word cards including NEW word “I”- See if they can find this new sight word in their books! work on name puzzle, ABC chart (identifying letters and sounds–try out of order!), each child has books to practice “reading the pictures” (you can read the words for the to practice listening to reading). All students also have gotten a black and white paper book from their READING GROUP… practice pointing to each word and READING THE WORDS in this book (3 times)—they should be able to do it mostly on their own– please check in and monitor so they are practicing correctly!
3. Math Bag- using number chart to practice counting and number recognition, use counting cubes to work on one-to-one with counting. NEW!!! students made a “I can Make Ten” book that they can practice reading and making the numbers.
Reminders:
We are collecting $1.00 donations for the BURN DRIVE!! The firefighters will be here on Friday to talk to us about fire safety and Oakman would like to make a donation to them so please send in $1.00 with your child!
Next Wednesday (October 25) there will be a kindergarten parent meeting in the classroom at 2:30. It will last until dismissal. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend!
