Practice each night to MEMORIZE THESE WORDS!
- READING GROUP BAG — TODAY Everyone got a new book or 2 to read three times each tonight, have someone sign when you’re finished. READ every day and focus on fluency and comprehension. To move UP reading levels students need to be able to read the words accurately and COMPREHEND (understand what I read). After reading books, please practice using the handout for the “retelling rope” see picture below!! (Don’t forget to ask your child– what was your favorite part of the story and WHY? or what did this story remind you of?) Story Retelling is KEY to comprehension!!! See if your child can tell you the following from their books in their bag, library book, and/or NEW book from this week Duck, Duck, Dinosaur!!

4. Spelling Notebooks— ****Test IS ON FRIDAY! New words are glued in black spelling notebooks for the week.
- Wednesday: Building Words!
- Write each spelling word one letter at a time, for example:

5. NEW library books were chosen Tuesday!! Use these for minutes for reading log challenge for MARCH IS READING MONTH!!! ** 20 minutes every day!!!*** and working on retelling stories in sequence (order) — what happened in the beginning, middle, and end— we are doing better with characters and setting but having trouble with remembering the order of events.
