Homework & ❤Reminders 2-5-20💕

  1. Oakman Folder- sign Behavior calendar for FEBRUARY!!! ***CHECK FOLDERS FOR SPELLING PAPER AND REVIEW/FINISH IF NEEDED!! TOMORROW IS OUR TEST AND LETTER FORMATION ON THE LINES MUST BE CORRECT!!*** Please send in a class snack for the month– we now have 22 students 🙂 Please remember to start working on/thinking about AT HOME POSTER PROJECT AND PRESENTATION — Due on Tuesday, February 11th !!! Please use poster/foam board for these so we can display in the hallway! Please do not send in until Tuesday, FEBRUARY 11th so you can practice the presentation part and be as prepared as possible!!! Reading bag- 35 TOTAL NEW SIGHT WORDS ARE IN THEIR BAGS one, little, play, me, here, am, do, not, who, with— I, like, the, see, we, go, can, she, a, at, is, was, will, he, has, on, in, and, you, up, look, it, my, to, and dog. Practice each night to MEMORIZE THESE WORDS!* Practice spelling the words if your child can read them.
  2. READING GROUP BAG — READ every day and focus on fluency and comprehension. *If your child did not get a new book, focus on RETELLING— new books will not be given every day so more focus can be on comprehension. To move UP reading levels students need to be able to read the words accurately and COMPREHEND (understand what I read). After reading books, please practice using the handout for the “retelling rope” see picture below!! (Don’t forget to ask your child– what was your favorite part of the story and WHY? or what did this story remind you of?)

4. NEW Math Homework MODULE 4 Book, Lesson 3— homework helper is on page 11 and homework is on page 13.

5. Spelling Notebook:

  • Spelling words are glued into your child’s spelling notebook. We will have our test on Thursday, February 6, since we have no school on Friday, February 7, 2020.
  • Wednesday: Building Words!
    • Write each spelling word one letter at a time, for example:

  • Thursday: Fun Sentences!
    • Write a sentence using one spelling word in each sentence. Make sure to include Capitals, spaces and punctuation!
  • ***TO GET THE BONUS– your sentence must be PERFECT! 🙂

6. POEM BOOKS read all the old poems and our new one on ducks. Please return on Thursday, February 5, 2020.

7. NEW LIBRARY BOOKS were chosen yesterday. Please read the library book to your child this week and ask them the comprehension questions for the retelling rope paper inside their reading group bag.
