This week we will focus on:

Reading/ELA: We will focus on author’s purpose and comparing the adventures of characters in different stories. Your child should be reading for 20 minutes daily. Have your child practice highlighted sight words in reading bag and read books in their reading bags and on Myon.  Spelling homework is also daily please follow directions on white paper on the inside cover of your child’s homework.

Math: we will  learn how to subtract and find the unknown-addend. Students will have math homework everyday: this will consist of practice worksheets, math bag activities/games and Xtramath and Everyday Math online. Math bags have been coming home please use the items in there to practice what we have been learning in class.

Science: We will be learning about matter:solids, liquids, and gases.

Social Studies: we will be learning about landmasses and bodies of water.

These are the spelling words your child should be practicing at home. The spelling pattern for this week is –st and sp. Make sure your child is doing the spelling homework in their spelling/poetry notebook on a daily basis. Test will be on Friday.
