Hello families,

Sixth-grade students who will be taking the WIDA test will be doing so on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week. The test will be taken in the morning and then we will have a modified class schedule in the afternoon (students will still attend all core classes, they will just be shortened).

In math we begin Lesson 13, Absolute Value and Comparing/Ordering Positive and Negative Numbers. Because this content ties so closely with Lesson 14 (Coordinate Plane), the students will be taking one quiz that combines the content of both lessons. That quiz won’t be until the following week and there will be a study guide given.

Monday – Absolute Value homework  Students can just write the correct answers into the boxes rather than cut and paste if they prefer.

Tuesday – PPS pg 131-132 homework Comparing/Ordering positive & negative numbers

Wednesday – In-class activity: Absolute Value Scavenger Hunt

Thursday – PPS pg 141-142 homework Graphing on the Coordinate Plane

Friday – PPS pg 145-146 homework Finding the distance between points on the Coordinate Plane

I will be sending progress reports home with the students on Monday so please look for those and have a conversation with your child about his or her progress! Have a great week.
