Weekly Newsletter 1/14-18

Congratulations to all the students who earned awards at Friday’s honors assembly.   I am so proud of my class for all their hard work and perseverance.  They will be putting that perseverance and hard work to the test this week as we begin our mid-year testing cycle.

  • Monday we began taking the I-Ready diagnostic test in the morning.  Once that is completed students can access the website again from home. Most are finished and are able to access it at home again.
  • Tuesday we will take the NWEA Science test.
  • We will also have a social studies test for the end of the unit this Wednesday.  A study guide went home Monday and we will be reviewing today.
  • Thursday we will have a math test for the end of module.  And Friday is the end of the card marking period.
  • There will be no spelling test this week.
  • We also have a half day on Friday.  Dismissal will be at 11:45.
  • This coming Monday (January 21) we have NO SCHOOL and Tuesday (January 22) we have a half day, early dismissal at 11:45

Here is our week ahead:

Math:  We have one more lesson to finish on addition, subtraction, and rounding.  Students will get a study guide on Wednesday, and the test is Thursday.  This will leave Friday for any make-up tests if students were absent.  Due to the amount of testing this week, please make sure your child is not absent unless he or she is sick.

Science:  We will not be starting anything new this week due to all the testing.

Social Studies:  A study guide will be given on Monday, and the test will be on Wednesday.  This test will cover the economic growth of Michigan.

Reading:  We will be comparing and contrasting stories.

Writing:  We will begin brainstorming lists of opinion topics to write about.
