Groovin’ in 2019

It may be snowing outside, but we are having fun inside making music!

This has been a busy month for our elementary musicians.  Kindergarten and first grade have been learning about Form, how we take different sounding sections of music and combine them to create a song.  This week we are beginning to compose our own music using ABA form!  Second and third grade musicians are working on music for concerts later this spring, dates for the concerts have not been decided on yet, but our musicians are sounding pretty good already.  Fourth grade musicians are beginning to learn how to read musical notation while playing the recorder.  Sorry about the squeaks you may hear at home, we will get better soon and sound wonderful.  Fourth grade also has a field trip coming up to see the Dearborn Symphony Orchestra at the Civic Center.  Our fifth grade musicians are really excited about their song writing project.  Each class will decide on a theme, create the music, write the lyrics and melody, and record their own original song!  Whew! It is a lot, but it is a lot of fun too!
