Haigh Covid 19 Resources

Haigh Community:

I am writing today to provide you with background on how our district is handling the Corona-Virus(Covid 19). Dearborn Public Schools is taking this very seriously and has continued to update their website with information and resources. Below is the link that shows the precautions our school district is taking. I have also attached some resources that can be used at your homes. As more information is shared I will continue to update our blog and send these items home with your students. Thank you for your understanding and support as we work together for our students and staff.

Sincerely,

Mr. Short

Helping Others

Haigh Community,

A husband, father of 4, and a member of the Haigh family has passed away unexpectedly. While still respecting the family’s privacy as they grieve, we are asking for any donation that you may have so that we can help out this loving family, and members of our school and community. Please consider donating to the GoFundMe set up for this family. gf.me/u/wj8f2q Thank you.

BRICS Bond for Dearborn

Bond Overview-Please Vote!

Dearborn Public Schools is asking voters to consider a bond proposal on the  November 5th, 2019 ballot.

With existing bonds expiring, the District can generate approximately $240 million from the sale of new bonds without a change in the current millage rate of 4.82.  This bond would not increase the current tax rates for residents.

The District is calling the proposal BRICS because the funded projects focus on Buildings, Renovations, Infrastructure, Capacity and Safety.

The BRICS Bond proposal is the direct result of the Infrastructure Task Force, which spent just over three months developing a plan and then making a recommendation to the Board of Education that included a zero millage increase while still generating $240 million to address a variety of critically needed items and updates in our schools.

Dearborn Big Read-the World is your Lab

Lab Girl is the name of the book chosen as the National Endowment of the Arts Big Read.  The City of Dearborn was fortunate to be selected for the grant once again-this is the third time. Lots of connections with Science, STEM, coding and many sponsors.

The kickoff event is 10/14/19 at UM-there will be freebies and ultimately books available for students (and adults) to read.

Everyone is welcome to attend
