Compound Word Video Lesson & Pick Up

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for keeping up with your assignments. This is not easy for anyone. I would rather be at school with my students. Parents, I know you are working hard, with amazing determination, creativity, and adaptability, to find ways to keep our kids learning. So, THANK YOU!

Personal Belonging Pick-up May 14th

We will be doing another “pick-up” day at Haigh on Thursday, May 14th from 1:00-3:00 pm for parents to swing by the school to pick up your child’s personal belongings. Teachers are working in the building to clean out everyone’s desks, locker spaces, writing folders, book boxes, etc. Each student’s belongings will be placed in a paper grocery bag so all you have to do is pull up the to curb and we will place your child’s bag right into your car.

Also, we are asking that when you come by to collect your child’s things to please bring back your student’s library book and book bag reading books.

This will be the only time we are doing a parent pick up for the rest of the school year, so if possible, please make every effort to stop by. Thanks again! If you have any questions, please let me know!

Here is a short video lesson on Compound words.

Story Elements & Join Google Classroom

Story Elements Video Lesson Click Here

Story Elements template to complete

Hi there Haigh Families,

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Thank you so much for completing your work and submitting it to my email. Please continue to complete these lessons and take pictures and send to my email at: nardond@deabrornschools.org

Story elements are very important elements of all fiction stories. The elements include the characters, setting, problem and solution, as well as being able to sequence the main events of the story. These events should include: first, next, then, after that, and last. I also included a fun “Roll & Retell” game that you can use with any fiction book. Simply print it and use a dice or make your own number spinner. (paper and paper clip)

Lesson #2: Ask & Answer Questions

Lesson #2 Video Click Here

Asking and answering questions about the text/passage that we are reading helps us to deepen our understanding of the text. Asking WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, WHY and HOW makes us better readers and demonstrates our understanding of key details in the text. You will need to reread the passage and then answer the questions by color coding the evidence. Please share your answers by printing the passage below and taking a photo of your answers and sending it to my email: nardond@dearbornschools.org I will provide feedback to you.
