Hey everyone! Hopefully everyone had a wonderful four days off with friends and family as we celebrate Eid. Be sure to study your vocab over the weekend and our unit exam for World Religion will be on Wednesday October 8th, 2014. 

Here’s what we did today:

Thursday-10/02/14:

  • Bell Work- Please sit quietly and number a sheet of loose leaf paper 1-25. Title your sheet “Islam: Empire of Faith-Video Notes”
  • Attendance- While Class is Doing Bell Work
  • Video-Islam: Empire of Faith Part 1: Muhammad and the Rise of Islam (53:55 min)
  • Activity-World Religions Notebook-Fill in Islam page
  • Study Guide- World Religions
  • Daily Objective-
  • Content Objective:
    • Students will demonstrate analysis of the origins of Islam and the impact of the Prophet Muhammad’s teachings on the Arabian Peninsula through the use of guided video questions and class discussions.
    • SWD comprehension of the foundational practices of Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity, Judaism and Islam by summarizing their origins/beliefs using a world religions notebook
    • SWD evaluation of the materials covered in our unit covering World Religions through summarizing key information in a structured study guide
  • Language Objective:
    • Students will write key information about the origins of Islam in order to demonstrate their understanding of the impact of the Prophet Muhammad’s teachings on the Arabian peninsula through the use of guided video notes
    • Students will read and record information covering the foundational practices of Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity, Judaism and Islam through the use of a skill building notebook categorized by religion
    • Students will read, and write the key terms and important concepts covered in our unit on World Religions by completing a structured inquiry based study guide
