Due to Camp Pinewood, 5th graders do NOT have spelling words this week.

Unit one math test went home today. We went over the test today in class. They do not need to be return unless it said to be signed and return. 

Please continue to send in BoxTops for the contest during the month of October.

Book Bingo is this Friday, October 6th. Doors open at 6:15 pm.
*I will be attending camp this Wednesday-Friday. There will be a substitute teacher for any 5th graders not going to camp. They will be in Ms. Shene room. It is important that your child attend school all three of these days as the substitute will be continuing to teach the curriculum during my absence.

**5th graders need to arrive to school by 7:50 a.m. this Wednesday (October 4th) for camp. Drop your luggage off in the lobby, then head down to our classroom for attendance and check in. Any students that have medication, should have a parent/adult package it in a ziplock bag, clearly labeled with the students name and dosage, and turn it in directly to Ms. Sherlock . The bus is scheduled to leave at 8:15 a.m. Check the weather and pack accordingly with rain gear and warm clothes.

Dear Snow Families,Snow School is launching a Read at Home Plan. With our new Book Room, every Snow student will go home with “Good Fit” Books daily! “Good fit” books are books that are not too hard and not too easy. The expectation is that students improve their reading skills and develop a love for reading.

Students must read daily:

Grades (K-1) 15+ minutes daily

Grades (2-5) 30+ minutes daily

Reading Logs- Signed daily by parents and checked by teachers.

5th grade shirts went home today. If your child is attending camp. We will be wearing them Wednesday the first day of camp. They are 50/50 but they still do shrink be careful when washing them.

Our class will be completing our NWEA testing this week. A progress report with your child’s scores from September will be sent home next week after all testing is completed.

Just a reminder Camp forms (last 2 pages)  and payment are due on September 27 next Wednesday. If there are any concerns please contact me at sherloj@dearbornschools.org or stop in anytime before or after school. Our goal is to have at least 100% of our fifth grade class attending. Thank you to the ones that have already sent in their forms and payment. If you are still considering chaperoning, background checks must be in by tomorrow.
