Walk to school day!! Oct 10th

Oct. 10 is national Walk to School Day, and Snow School is planning to participate.  We are encouraging all families to consider walking or biking students to school that day.  A healthy lifestyle, including sufficient exercise, improves student achievement. Does your child get the suggested 60 minutes or more each day of physical activity?  More families walking would also reduce traffic congestion around the school.  Snow PTA will provide a small gift to all the students who participate on Oct. 10.
For more information, visit the Walk & Bike to School website at https://www.walkbiketoschool.org/.

Week of Sept. 24th-28th

Reading Bags went home last week.  Students are expected to read the assigned book/pages each night at home.  They can use these books towards their 20-30 minutes of reading on their Reading Logs.  Students are expected to keep up with their reading at home and bring their reading bags to school every day in good condition.

We will finish our NWEA testing this week with Language.  Once all students have finished all 4 NWEA tests, a report will be generated and sent home to the parents so you can see where your child is starting off this year.  It will also have their scores from 4th  grade on the report, so you can see your child’s progress from last year.  We will take the NWEA again in January and the final test will be in May.

Students are expected to return their homework to school on time.  Late or missing work will effect your child’s grades.

Thank you to the families that have already signed up for Parent Teacher Conferences in November.  If you have not signed up, please go to the link

Please remember camp form and payment are due this Wednesday

Week of Sept. 17-21st

Students will take the weekly Spelling Test on Friday on google classroom.  You can have your child log into the course at home so you can see what they spelled correctly or got wrong.  Students can only take a Spelling Test one time. If they are absent that day, I will not make up spelling test.

Students should be reading 20-30 minutes every night (Monday-Thursday) and filling out their reading logs.

Parents should be checking Student Planners each day and signing at the bottom of the planner.  This is how parents can see what their child has for homework every night and to make sure that the homework is being completed and returned to school on time.

Math homework is given a grade of 1 point.  If your child attempts the homework they will receive one point.  If the homework is not turned in, your child will not receive any credit.  Student Exit Tickets that are completed in class are given a check if the student understood the basic concept taught, a check plus if they completed the entire assignment correct, and a check minus if they are struggling with the concept.  Please use the Homework Helper sheets and the Tips for Parents sheets at home to discuss the math work with your child.
