Flint water drive

Send A Sip… …To Our Friends In Flint! The citizens of Flint face a very serious and long term water crisis. People all across the state and country are stepping up to help and now we can too! ALL THIS WEEK, ALL DEARBORN PUBLIC SCHOOLS WILL BE COLLECTING CASES OF WATER FOR FLINT. THIS IS A DISTRICT WIDE EFFORT BY ALL OF OUR SCHOOLS. On Friday, January 29 a semi-truck, donated by an Oakman parent, will be in the parking lot of Oakman Elementary School from 9:00 am – 11:30 am. The same truck will be in the parking lot of the Administration Building from Noon- 3:00 pm. Depending on the time or location that is more convenient, schools can bring their collected water to either one of the locations to be loaded on the truck. At 3:00 pm the truck will deliver the water to the Friends of Flint Water Drive being held from 10am – 7pm at the Redford Jaycee Hall. The District has committed our support to this event which is being supported by cities and schools in our area.

Week of Jan. 25th-29th

Please continue to study math facts at home with your child. We take a 50 question 4 minute test everyday. This is a large part of your child’s computation grade on the upcoming report card.
Students should be reading 15-20 minutes every night in order to improve their reading fluency and comprehension.

In writing we’ve started informational writing/ research paper about one of our presidents. Your child received their president on Friday, and also have checked out a book today on their president. If you’d like to do some research at home you’re more than welcome to. They may  bring in their findings to school so they have more information that will help them in their writing. We will also be looking online as well for more information.

Our class has already completed our NWEA tests.I’ve send home an updated bar graph to compare with their scores from October.

Third time is a charm??? The Lions Organization is scheduled to come tomorrow (Tuesday) for their Anti-Bullying Assembly. Please encourage your child to wear their Lions gear of Snow School shirts on Tuesday.

Snow School’s Habit Hop is this Wednesday, January 27th. If your family did not return the yellow RSVP paper, you can still send in a note stating how many people in your family plan on attending.
Reminder that this Friday, January 29th is a half day.

Are you missing anything?

We have two LARGE tables in the lobby, filled with lost & found items. Drop by and check it out if your child is missing anything.
We will leave it out through next week before we will have to donate the items to charity.
To avoid lost items in the future, please make sure to label your child’s belongs so we can return them to you promptly!
