NWEA scores
NWEA Assessment Scores
Parents will get their student’s scores from the recent NWEA MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) at Parent/Teacher conferences. The testing results are reported in RITs (Rauch Unit) on the report and in grade equivalent scores on the report card. A RIT score is an estimation of a student’s instructional level and also measures student progress or growth in school. We expect RIT scores to increase over time. Parents and guardians should become comfortable with the understanding that individuals will grow at different rates. Our goal is for teachers to use the data to differentiate and adjust instruction so that all students grow at levels appropriate for each individual. If you have questions, please contact your student’s classroom teacher or Dr. Groover.
Dr. Groover will be holding the annual Title I Parent Meeting each night of conferences and will go into more detail about interpreting the NWEA reports, along with how to help your students success in school. The sessions will be held as follows:
Thursday, Nov. 13 3:45-4:15
Wednesday, Nov. 19 4:30-5:00
Thursday, Nov. 20 5:30-6:00
Spelling words
Week of Nov10th- 14th
Spelling pic will be posted tomorrow (your child has the list in their planner as well)
Reminder that Wednesday, November 12th is a LATE START. The first bell will ring at 9:35 a.m. Breakfast will NOT be served in the classrooms. Students who want breakfast may go to the cafeteria at 9:00 a.m.
Reminders for Parent Teacher Conferences were sent home last week. Please be respectful of other families and attend conferences on the correct day and the correct time. Each conference should last about 10-15 minutes. Parents will receive their child’s report card and NWEA results. Dr. Groover will be holding an informational meeting each night of conferences to explain the results of NWEA testing. Please see the previous email about times and information that will be discussed.

Dr. Groover!
Our Principal has cleared her calendar to share her love for reading on
Friday, November 14.
She will be in our school lobby wearing her pajamas and reading all day long, as part of the Read Your Heart Out Principal Challenge. The Pizza Hut BOOK IT! Program has challenged all principals to read from bell to bell to celebrateNational Young Readers Week (November 10-14). This is an annual event co-founded by Pizza Hut and the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress. One lucky elementary school principal will win 101 copies of the ninth book in the Wimpy Kid series, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul . Jeff Kinney, author of the Wimpy Kid books, will personally autograph one of the books for the winning principal who read their heart out.
Bring in a jar of PEANUT BUTTER (24oz. or less) to join Dr. Groover in wearing PAJAMAS during this fun celebration of reading! All proceeds will be donated to Blessings in a Backpack-Dearborn.

Dear Snow Families,
We will celebrate our next PBIS party on Monday, November 3rd. Students must have earned 14 or more green days in the month of October to attend. If your child is attending, he/she may bring a board game from home to play. Please do not send electronics. We will allow electronics at a future PBIS party. Keep up the GREAT job boys and girls!
