Information that went home

All spelling homework is due on Friday of each week. You can also have your child go to www.spellingcity.com to play fun games to practice spelling words. This is FREE! You do not have to pay unless you want access to the premium activities.

Spirit Wear t-shirt and sweatshirt sale has begun. The forms will be sent home tomorrow. All order forms and money are due on October 7th.

A Parent Survey on Bullying is coming home today. Please fill out the surveys at home and return them no later than Friday, September 26th.

Please make sure your child gets to school on time. We start work at the second bell of 8:40 a.m. The first thing we do is Bellwork, which reviews concepts previously taught. If your child is late, they miss important academic work.

Thank you to all of the wonderful families that attended Open House last Thursday. It was wonderful to meet so many of you and talk to you during this time. If you have not already signed up for Parent-Teacher Conferences, the sign up sheet is posted outside of our classroom.

Spelling for the week

We are working with the pattern: C-V-C (consonant-vowel-consonant) using long and short a.

cap
cape
mad
made
late
ate
take
make
gave
because
The first 5 words are pattern words and words 6-10 are review Dolch words (which are sight words that your students are already familiar with). There will be a spelling test every Friday. Along with the pattern words and Dolch words, there will be 5 “mystery” words on the spelling test that follow the same pattern we are learning for the week.

Each week, I will send home a spelling homework sheet on Monday and it is due on Thursday. The students need to choose three of the activities to form a “tic tac toe”. If they choose to do more than 3 activities, they can!!
