Spring pictures: please read!!!
Your child received a packet with a few sheets of photos. There is an order form envelope in the packet along with the set of pictures.
If you are interested in purchasing these pictures, you may send the money to school or order the pictures online. Either way, please send envelope back completed. You may purchase all or some of the photos. Follow the instructions on the order form.
If you are not interested, please send all photos back to school and they will be shipped back to the company.

Week of April 8th
Welcome back!! Hope everyone had a wonderful break!!!
Reading
We will be identifying text types: storybooks, fiction/nonfiction, poetry. We will point out test features: front cover, back cover & title. We will make connections. We will also practice asking questions using question words: what, where, when, why, will, who, did, do, can, is.
Spelling words: (-in) in, bin, fin, win, pin, spin, into, will, this
Language Arts
We are learning the s-blends (st-, sp-). Sight words: into, will, this
Writing
We will be write an opinion piece. We will write about whether your child likes spring. Why or why not? Sentence stem will be: I like spring because__. I do not like spring because__.
Math
We will practice subtraction and addition. We will also revisit missing addend. We will fill in number bonds. We will add and subtract zero to get the same number. We will find different ways to make 10. We will make patterns with adding zero and 1 to make a ten.
Science
We will be planting!! We will discuss needs of a plant. This includes: space, air, water, soil, sun and a seed.
***Michigan has unpredictable weather. Please check the weather channel and dress your child appropriately.

Reading

Important information form the PTA
Running Club will be cancelled next Monday March 25th due to Bingo for Books (4-6:30pm). Please note that the last day to register for the Howard team for the Martian Marathon is April 10th.
We are still in need of new and gently used book donations for Bingo for Books. Please send donations to the office. Pizza will be served at the event.
On Tuesday March 26th from 6-8pm we will have a Rollerskating Night at the Lincoln Park Skate Center. Admission and skate rental will be free for Howard students. Parents and siblings not attending Howard may also attend and skate with free admission but will be charged the $4 skate rental fee. Concessions will be open and cost extra.
