Reading We will discuss Community Service workers and
focus on answering comprehension questions from literature
and informational stories. We will also discuss the author’s
role, illustrator’s role, title of a story. We will discuss main topic
of an informational story and recalling key details.
Writing We are learning about opinion writing. We will write
about what community service person would you want to be
when you grow up. The sentence stem will be: When I grow up,
I want to be a ___. I can__ .
Language Arts Phonics: Letters Hh, Ii correct formation
(always start from the top and write down), the sound and
words that begin with that sound; Phonemic Awareness:
Syllables, rhymes, beginning and ending sounds of a word,
Sight word: go, to, it, has, come, we, and (review: I, can, see,
like, the, a, look, at, in)
Math We will be counting numbers 0-50. We will also be
counting by 10’s to 100. We will learn about geometric flat
shapes (2-dimensional): circles, hexagons.We learn about
positional words: above, below, next to, in front of, beside,
behind. We will also learn about solid shapes (3-dimensional):
cube, sphere, cone, cylinder.
Social Studies We will learn about thing people need to
survive. This includes: air, shelter, water, food, clothes,
medicine etc.

Please dress your child appropriately for the weather. It is getting colder and it is easier to remove layers.

Thanksgiving food drive- This year, Howard will participate in the Hype Athletics Thanksgiving Can Drive. Our can drive will begin Monday October 28th through Friday November 15th. They will come and pick up the boxes as they fill up. Each classroom teacher will need to tally up their food that is collected. The class that collects the most can goods/food items will earn a pizza party. Thanks for your help!
