Writing: We will write a narrative. Our question is if you would like to go anywhere, where would you go and how would you get there? Our sentence stems will be: We can ride on my __. We can go to ___.

Our title will be: Away we go!

An example will include:  We can go to the moon.We can on my rocket. It goes in the air.

Students will learn how to revise and edit their writing by following a class created writing checklist. This rubric will change as your child learns more skills from lessons about writing.

To be star writers, your child should always check for:

  1. Does your writing have an illustration?
  2. Did you spell your sight words correctly?
  3. Do you have space between your words?
  4. Can you read your writing? Does it make sense?
  5. Can your friend read your writing?

As we learn more ideas about writing this student checklist will change. So when your write with your child, go through the above checklist.

Math: We are learning more about doubles. Practice: 1+1=2, 2+2=4, 3+3=6 etc. We will continue practicing tally marks. We will continue to make  a graph and look for patterns. We will construct a bike graph. We will also analyze and interpret data on a graph. We will answer questions such as

  • What do you notice?
  • What pattern do you see?
  • Which has the most?
  • Which has the least or fewest?

Science: We will continue to graph the weather for the month of December.

Social Studies: We will learn what a good and service is. Goods are items people produce and sell. Service is a type of work a person can provide. Examples include:

  • Goods: food (pizza, ice cream, candy etc ); clothes (jackets, pants, shirt, dress, shoes, etc); appliances (stove, fridge, blender etc); cars, toys etc
  • Services: hair dresser-cuts hair, waiter- serves food, teacher-teaches, librarian-checks out books, doctor-checks for sicknesses, pharmacist- provides medicine, lunch lady-serves lunch

Have a great week!
