We are going on Field trip Wednesday! We will be attending, even if it is rainy. There are many enclosures to keep dry. According to the weather channel, it will be 47 degrees so dress appropriately. It will be cloudy and no rain. A couple things to keep in mind:
- Parent chaperones- you will meet at 9:00 in Mrs. Smith’s room to go over expectations
- We are leaving at 9:30.
- Only students will ride the bus. All students must ride the bus to and from the trip. You can not drive your child home.
- Please pack a lunch. No glass beverages. Paper and plastic only.
- Parents that do drive, must pay and park and meet at the entrance, so we can walk in as a group. Parking cost $7. Carpooling is recommended.
- Please dress appropriately for the weather. Check the weather channel.
- No siblings please. This is an opportunity to spend time with your child.
Now to gear focus on what we are learning about:
Reading: we will listen to multiple stories and practice retelling using beginning, middle and end as a guide. the stories are: What do you like?; Country mouse & city mouse; Games around the world.
Strategies:
- Retelling- focus on beginning, middle, end
- syllables/word parts- clap parts you hear in a word:
- ball-breaks into one part: /ball/
- balloon- breaks into two parts: bal/loon
- pizza- breaks onto two parts: piz/za
- banana- breaks into three parts: ba/na/na

I will be individually testing students letter id/sound (write and see), sight words, syllable/word part practice, number write, oral counting, counting and comparing objects, counting on from a certain number. This is just to see how much your child knows and where their learning can go from this point.
Sight words: see, a (pronounced ‘ah’)
Letters of the week: Nn, Ff
Math: Counting and comparing amounts. We are learning about greater than, less than and equal to. Practice the symbols >,<,=. Here is a really good game for practice. Math homework (Bug bingo) on Tuesday and (Count and compare butterflies) on Friday.
