Strategies:
- Identify the beginning and end of a story (retell)
- Point under each word as it is being read
- The difference between a letter and a word
- Review: characters, setting, title, front/back cover of a book, return sweep; reading left to right, reading top to bottom, reading left page to right page
Letters of the week: Pp, Ll (review: Aa, Mm, Ss, Tt, Dd)
Sight word of the week: like (review: I, am, can, the, we)
Writing: We will be discussing what opinion writing looks like. We will discuss and write our own opinion using the word of the week “like”. We will discuss that opinion writing is what someone thinks and that everyone can have their own idea. I will introduce the writing process. This will be an expected and predictable routine every week. It will proceed as follows: On Monday, we will create a chart and I will show them what an opinion piece looks like. On Tuesday, we will write a practice one together and it will come home. On Wednesday the students will write one by them selves. On Thursday, I will revise and edit with your child. On Friday, your child will publish their piece and it will be posted on SeeSaw.
Math: We will learn about ten frames. Just like five frames we will learn to count in different ways to make ten. Homework coming home Wednesday.
Science: We will explore pumpkins and gourds. We will continue using the 5 senses this week through our investigations.
