Reading We will continue to discuss Reindeer and focus on
answering comprehension questions from literature stories. We
will discuss story elements: characters, setting, retelling key
events in sequence. We will identify author’s purpose to
entertain. Last week, the author’s purpose to inform.
Writing We are learning about informational writing. We will
write about Reindeer independently. The sentence stem will
be: A reindeer is a mammal. It has__. It can___.
Language Arts Phonics: Letters Qq, Xx, Zz-correct
formation (always start from the top and write down), the
sound and words that begin with that sound; Phonemic
Awareness: rhymes, short o medial sound of cvc words Sight
word: review: I, can, see, like, the, a, look, at, go, to, come, we,
and, it, is, in, my, he, has, for, are
Math We will be counting numbers 0-50. We will also be
counting by 10’s to 100. We will review length and height,
weight and volume, longer and shorter, taller and shorter,
heavier and lighter.
Social Studies We will learn about trade. Trade is when
you give something away and get something else in return. It is
also an exchange between two people. A long time ago we
traded goods for other goods or services. Today, we trade
money for goods or services. We will be role playing many of
these transactions this week.

Testing will begin the week of December 16th. If your child has not mastered the content, he/she will be retested when we return from
winter break.
