Week of January 14th

Reading

We are reviewing how to retell a story. Whenever you are reading with your child, close the book and ask what happened first?  What happened next? What happened at the end?

Language Arts

We are learning about the digraph: sh-, Sight words: this, little.   We are also learning about long vowel i.

Writing

We will continue opinion writing. We will state our opinion about how we feel about snow. Students can write: I like snow because__. I do not like snow because___.  

Math

We are reviewing comparing groups of numbers. We will count and compare groups using pictures and objects. We will discuss more than one, less than one and equal to/same as.

Social Studies

We will learn about timelines of our day and week. we will use words such as yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Science

We will be review severe weather conditions such as: blizzards, hurricanes and tornadoes. We will also learn about floods, droughts, and thunderstorms.

***Please note: Some of the students will not be getting new books over the next 2 weeks because I am testing.

***Also, we are NWEA reading and math testing this week and next week. Please encourage your child to try their best!
