Week of October 29th

Hope everyone enjoyed their 3 day weekend! Here is what we are learning this week:

Reading with strategies: We will be listening to stories and practicing putting the story pictures in order (sequencing). Stories include: The little old lady who was not afraid of anything; Room on the broom; I know an old lady who swallowed some leaves. We will learn about problem and solution to the story Skeleton Meets Mummy. We will discuss main idea and create a thinking map about fall using the story Why do leaves change colors.

Sight words for the week: go, to

Letters of the week: Nn, Ll

Writing: We will be learning what narrative writing is about. It is writing about a real story. This week we will write about places we go to and what we can do there. We learned that a narrative has a beginning, middle and end. The sentence stems we will use are: I can go to the __. I can __.

Math: We will practice one less with numbers 10-1 and describe the pattern. We will be engaging in math workshop this week. Ask your child comes home ask aboutĀ  what math workshop they worked on each day.

Social Studies: We will discuss responsibility and how it helps others. Examples include: if you leave your chair, push it it so nobody trips over your chair.

Dates to keep in mind this week:

  • Halloween Parade is scheduled for Wednesday, at 1:40. If there is rain, parade will be cancelled. Send costume in a bag, Children will dress after lunch with help from the homeroom mom.
  • Friday, Nov. 2nd is a half day. DismissalĀ  will be at 11:45.
