Wow! November already….. I just can not believe it!
We are focusing on this week:
Reading: We ware wrapping our friends unit up with how to problem solve. We will be reading Simon & Molly plus Hester; Helping Hands, Little Red Hen; The turtle and the sheep. Each story will have a problem and solution. Our task is to find out each one and draw/sketch/write it out.
Strategy to focus: Identify the problem and solution of a story
Sight words of the week: it, is, have
Letters of the week: Bb, Zz
Writing: We will start informational writing this week. We will be writing an informational piece about Turkeys. This week we will focus on its characteristics (descriptive writing) Our sentence stem will be: Turkeys have__. Turkeys can__. We will create a web to help guide our writing. Your child will be expected to write 2 or more sentences with guidance. The sight words introduced this week and the sight words introduced in the past will help with this task.
Examples include: Turkeys have beaks. Turkeys have wings. Turkeys have feathers etc.
Math: We will learn about 2-d, 3-d shapes. Please refer to below example:
We will also learn about number bonds. These are numbers when they are combined (composed) make a certain number. This is also referred to as 2 parts equal one whole. We will also write addition number sentences to match. Please refer to example below:

Science: We will explore weather further this week. We will create a group of weather conditions and label them. We will graph the weather daily. Types of weather to know:
REMINDERS:
- No school Tuesday, November 7th- Election Day
- Reading bags will come home with new books this week. Make sure you read all 3.
- Parent Teacher conferences Thursday, November 9th. Please check your scheduled time and meet with me accordingly. Report cards will be given then.
