GO NOODLE

Parents, Guardians & Caregivers

GoNoodle is awesome fun for the whole family! We love it when everyone does our dances, sings our songs, and plays GoNoodle together. It’s a daily ritual in most elementary schools across the U.S. (and many around the world) and we think it’s a super fun thing you can do with your little ones every day too!  Plus, we have another app called “GoNoodle Games” that is an awesome way to get your kids moving in front of the screen. Sign up for our emails and in the days and weeks ahead, we will send you weekly fresh, fun ideas for you and your kids well-beyond GoNoodle. Sign up to get these on the Good Energy page.

ART

Art activities for Young 5s and Kindergarten students will be posted on Mrs. Buenting’s blog starting tomorrow, March 16.  At the top of her blog page is a tab labeled Kindergarten, this is where you will find activities, videos, and web links.  Please, visit her blog weekly over the next three weeks for activities that can be done with minimum supplies yet keep creative minds working!

Sight words

Please begin to introduce the list of sight words to your child.

  • An easy way to practice these words is by writing out flash cards. We recommend you try the 6:4 method (6 words they know and 4 words they do not know) when reviewing. Practice the set of 10 words until they have mastered words and then bring in new words 4 new words and removed 4 they have mastered.
  • Alphabet Chart
  • Sight Word Lists ** They need to know these by the end of Kindergarten! (Young 5, focus on the pre-primer list to prepare them for Kinder!)

Reading

  • Please use Raz-Kids and reading eggs to work with your child on maintaining and improving their reading skills. I will be monitoring the online programing from home, please email if you have any questions. Students should listen to the book, read the book, and take the quiz for each book before moving on to the next story or book. My recommendation would be at least 3 books a day (following the listen, read, and quiz pattern) and 20-30 minutes on reading eggs.

      • afillmore1

  • Please continue to do the fun activities on the March is Reading Month Log. Don’t forget to log your minutes!

Reading Eggs, Math Seeds and Raz Kids

These are excellent online resources that your child can be using during our break. If you need your child’s login and password, please email me and I will be happy to send it to you.

Reading daily to your child is an excellent way to improve their reading readiness skills. I will try and upload the template for writer’s workshop, so they can continue to write each day.
