The Last Week of Second Grade :-(

Happy Sunny Monday!

I can’t believe we are into our last week of school.  It has gone by so fast!!  Here is some picnic information and end of the year information for this week!

Picnic Information:

Our picnic is this Wednesday!  Our class is providing pizza, chips, cookies and popsicles.  If you would like to donate any of these items, please contact our homeroom parents:  Mrs. Murtada: (313) 686-4092 or Mrs. Alaouieh: (313)587-1525.  We are going to be at Levagood Park from 10-2:30.  Parents are welcome to join us at any time!  Please be sure to have your student bring a labeled water bottle, sunscreen, and any balls or outdoor equipment they would like to play with.  Please be sure to have these items labeled-students are responsible for the items they bring for the picnic.  They need to wear shoes for playing outside and it would be great for everyone to wear their Haigh Second Grade shirts one more time!  Our last day is Thursday, June 16 with dismissal at 11:45.  I can’t believe how quickly this year has flown by-the students have come so far and I am so very proud of them!!!

Have a wonderful day!

What a Sunny Day!!!

Happy Tuesday!  What a gorgeous day!!  Just on update on a few upcoming things!  Can’t believe we have 15 days of second grade left to complete-this year has gone so fast!  Our spelling list for this week are:  woman, women, goose, geese, mouse, mice, foot, feet, man, men, child, children, house, home, sheep and the bonus word is memorial.  We will not have any mystery words this week since we are taking our test on Thursday.  Our recycling project is going well-we have collected over 80 plastic water bottles.  We are partnered with Mrs. Niner’s class and will see how many bottles we can keep from ending up in a landfill.  We are ordering class shirts for the second graders to wear for both field day and for our class picnic!  Our class color is orange!  The second grade picnic is on Wednesday, June 15.  This is the last full day of school.  We have a half-day on Thursday, June 16.  There is no school this Friday, May 27 or Monday, May 30 in honor of Memorial Day.  Have a wonderful long weekend!!!

End of a busy week!!

Hi everyone!

It was so nice to see some sunshine peek out today-allowed the students to get outside for recess which was well needed!!!  Our class has been very busy-we are beginning our new economics portion of social studies, learning about plants in science, writing informational and opinion articles in writing, and beginning our measurement unit in math!  We also won the “lunchtime challenge” again for what may be the sixth time!!  It’s been so many times that we can’t keep count!  This week we have remained on O every day-so we are off to a wonderful start to possibly winning the challenge again!!  I promised the class that the next win we will have a pizza party in the classroom as a reward-so watch for that coming soon!!!!  We have a field trip this Tuesday, April 12 to the Dearborn Historical Museum.  It is a great trip and the students will find it educational and exciting!  We will be back to school by lunchtime!  Thanks for all that you do-have a wonderful weekend!!!   Go Tigers!!!
