This week has been another busy one!  We are off on Friday, February 12 and Monday, February 15 for mid-winter break!!  Our Valentine’s party is Thursday, February 11 from 2:00-3:00.  I am keeping this party very simple-the class wrote their letter about the cupcake they would like to create for tomorrow!!  I loved getting the letters-the class did a great job:-)  I am keeping the party to just our class and the homeroom parents:-)  The students may bring in a treat and a valentine-I sent home a class list of student names for the class to copy.  The students will be working on President reports over the break for strategy group homework.  They did a wonderful job on their biography reports!!!  We are also collecting data for animal reports and will complete those next week!!  Our spelling test is tomorrow and our spelling words are:  root, chew, clue, canoe, fruit, those, always, because, there, before and the bonus word is valentine.  Please have your child study these words tonight!!  If you have signed up to be a chaperone for our science center field trip-please be sure to have a background check on file at the office.  You need to see Mrs. Corrigan to complete this form.  Stay warm and Happy Valentine’s Day!!!  <3 <3

Snowy Tuesday!!

Good morning!!  I hope everyone is getting to where they need to be safely today!  I will send home an updated spelling list-I am so sorry that spruce was on there twice.  Our spelling words for List 14 are:  screen, stripe, sprain, struck, spruce, here, but, pretty, walk, many and the bonus word is sentence.  We will begin NWEA testing this Thursday-math will be first, then we will do reading next week.  Your child has had an opportunity to practice the NWEA in class.  You can also have them practice through the Dearborn schools website.  Go to student-NWEA practice-then K-2 test practice.  They can practice at any level but I encourage them to try the 180 RIT score items.  Please have your child use paper and pencil as well to practice writing down problems in math.  We have been studying government in Social Studies, landforms and bodies of water in Science and will be doing informational writing.  Thank you for all that you do-there is a popcorn sale this Friday if your child is interested in ordering.  Each bag is .50 cents.  Have a great day!!!

Last week of 2015!!

Hi everyone!!!  We are wrapping up another fun week!  Our spelling test is this Friday, December 18.  The words for this week are beginning blends of sh, ch, th, and wh.  The words are:  chill, sheep, think, while, chase, these, shall, the, who, their, and bonus word is vacation.  I am also having the class practice spelling the words first and should as I often see these misspelled.  We also have a unit 4 math test that I would like to give on Friday, December 18 so that there is no carry-over for the break.  Have your child practice the problems on the study guide that was sent home yesterday!  Now for the fun stuff!!!  Our winter party is Friday, December 18 from 1:45-3:00.  We will be having snowman cookies, milk, ice cream, and doing a snowman craft.  There may not be snow outside-but we will be making snowmen anyway!!!!  Parents are welcome to come and join in on the fun!!!  Enjoy this last school week before break!!!

Busy Week!!

Good afternoon!

This week has been a busy one!  Our spelling words are focused on the long/short u sound.  They are:  cut, cute, cub, cube, jump, funny, four, under, put, and use.  The bonus word is Halloween.  The Halloween party is from 10-12 this Friday, October 30.  Our class is having pizza for lunch and many snacks, so no food is needed to be sent in that day.  Costumes are allowed to be worn, but students may not wear masks or bring in weapons of any kind, even if they apply to their costume.  We will have a Halloween parade at 2:00 on the outside track weather permitting.  Parents are invited to watch and take pictures of their children!  It should be a fun day!  We will still have our spelling test that day-just first thing in the morning!

Have a great night and stay dry!!
