Field Trip Tomorrow!

Good Evening!

Almost everyone is done with the NWEA test!  I am so proud of the students and will send their scores home the end of the week when everyone is completed.  Our field trip to the zoo is tomorrow!  Please be sure to dress for the weather.  Students should bring a sack lunch and wear comfortable shoes.  Chaperones are asked to please meet at school in the morning and then you may take your student and meet us at the zoo.  We need to meet at the front gate around 9:45 as we need to enter together as a whole group.

Spelling words for this are: football, grandmother, grandfather, downstairs, baseball, playground, everybody, somebody, someone, sunshine, something, anybody, firefighter, bedroom and schoolhouse.  Bonus word is comprehension.

I gave the students all of the words this week to study due to a 4 day week and the field trip!  Also, math tests will come home tomorrow.  Everyone did a wonderful job.  Here’s hoping the rain goes away and we have sunny skies for tomorrow!!!

Field Trip Permission Slips

Good Afternoon!

Yesterday while I was at my meeting, the second grade team decided to send home a permission slip with more detailed information.  I am sorry that this permission slip did not go home until today.  Nothing needs to be sent in-everyone is all set with their payments.  Just needed more specific information on the form.  If you could send it in tomorrow with your child-that would be wonderful!

Thanks for all that you do!

Busy Week!!

Hi Everyone!

This has been another busy week!  We took the social studies test today and we have our spelling test tomorrow!  Please study the spelling words as they are tricky this week.  Spelling words are: bigger, biggest, liked, liking, talked, talking, easier, easiest, harder, hardest and the bonus word is suffix.  NWEA testing will begin next week-to practice skills I have sent home a packet with questions similar to what is on the NWEA.  These can be done instead of strategy group work for the next few days.  I am also starting to DRA test and will send home those results once I am done completing them.  Today we measured our hands and feet (:-)) during math and had a great time discovering area.  Our field trip to the zoo is Tuesday, May 22 and we are ordering super second grader shirts for anyone who is interested in getting one!  Parents may get them as well:-)  They are very cute!

Enjoy the beautiful weather and thanks for all that you do!

Field Day Information

Dear Parents and Guardians,

To help us celebrate another fantastic school year, we will be having Field Day on Monday, May 14, 2018.  For this Field Day event students will work through stations with their class to develop skills they have learned in physical education and have tons of fun!  The schedule for the event is as follows:

9:00 AM – 11:00 AM: Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Grades

1:00 PM – 3:00 PM: 3rd, 4th and 5th Grades

On May 14, students need to wear clothes that will allow them to be physically active outside, including tennis shoes.  They need to bring a water bottle. Students are highly encouraged to bring a water bottle that can be refilled at the refill station that we will provide.

We are looking for one parent from each classroom to donate a treat for the entire class to enjoy after their session.  We are also pre-selling Fla-vor-ice as a cool treat for students to enjoy during the activities. The cost for the Fla-vor-ice is $0.50, only one Fla-vor-ice per student please. Fla-vor-ice money is due by Monday, May 7.

Lastly, we need 15 parent volunteers for both sessions to help run stations.  If you are interested in volunteering, fill out the lower portion and return it to Mr. Peecher.  Please, contact Mr. Peecher with any questions.

Thanks!  The PBIS/Field Day Committee  peeches@dearbornschools.org

*We will only be able to accommodate students & parent volunteers for this event.

The sun is shining and it has been lovely weather!  We had a wonderful day at the picnic and what a nice day to play outside!  Unit 9 Measurement Test came home tonight-most of the class did an exceptional job on this test!!  Our new unit is all about counting and adding money.  We will have a social studies test the beginning of next week-we will be getting a study guide to look over for the weekend.  NWEA is coming up-please have students practice on Prepdog and the Dearborn Schools practice tests.  Our spelling words this week are contractions.  I have given the class all 15 words because these words are tricky-please be sure that your child is practicing these words each night.  The words are: didn’t, they’ve, she’ll, he’ll, wouldn’t, shouldn’t, can’t, we’ve, we’ll, she’s, couldn’t, would’ve, should’ve, he’s, wasn’t.  The bonus word is contraction.

Busy Week Already!!

Good Afternoon!

I hope that all of the power has been restored to your homes!  Spring has sprung in quite the unusual way this year!  The class has completed their animal posters!  We will begin to write the information report tomorrow-but the posters look great!  I will begin to have regular strategy groups beginning tomorrow-so we will get back on track!  Thank you for your help on gathering information about each of their animals!  Our spelling words for this week are: near, gear, deer, where, here, peer, cheer, rear, steer and fear.  The bonus word is artifact.  Despite the chilly temps and rainy weather-we had a wonderful field trip at the Dearborn Historical Museum.  The curator for the downstairs presentation complimented our class on their courtesy and cooperation:-)  It is a favorite field trip for me!  We had lots of fun measuring with two friends today!  We are talking about measurement in math and this unit is moving along!  The class did a great job on the unit 8 fraction test!!  I was very proud of them!  Stay warm and hopefully the end of the snow and beginning of spring is near!!!
