  • ELA : Wednesday, May 1
  • ELA: Thursday, May 2
  • ELA Make-ups: Friday, May 3
  • Math: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday May 7-9
  • NWEA begins on Monday, May 13th!

Snacks for Testing

Hello everyone,
As you know, we started MSTEP this week, and between MSTEP and NWEA, we will be testing for the whole month of May. Unfortunately, I have discovered that not everyone is eating breakfast in the morning or bringing a snack. Hungry kids don’t perform as well on tests and I’d like to support all of the students as best as possible. Please consider helping us out by providing some healthy prepackaged snacks for the future tests. Some families sent in snacks today and we thank you for that! They are already being enjoyed! Thank you for any help that you are able to provide!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Lozon

Fasting for Ramadan

Haigh Community:

I am writing today to inform you of Haigh’s efforts to accommodate student(s) who may be fasting during these last few weeks of school during Ramadan. During school lunch we have made the media center available for students that are fasting. The media center is air conditioned and there are various board games, books and other resources available for students to use during the eating portion of the lunch period. After the initial 15 minutes, all students are taken outside. As always, students have the freedom to sit in the shade or play. For class recess the same process will be followed. As temperatures rise over the next few weeks, we will make the appropriate decision regarding student recess time.

A concern has arisen at Haigh as some of our younger students are telling their teachers they are fasting.  However, when a staff member calls home to confirm that, parents inform us they are not. If possible, we would like for parents or guardians to send in the slip  below making us aware if your student is fasting. This will help both classroom teachers and our noon hour supervisors to be correctly informed during the lunch period.

As always student safety is our main concern at Haigh. Thank you for all your support and understanding during this school year 🙂

I hope everyone has a great summer!

PBIS- Upland Farms

Dear Families,

The end of the month is here, which means it is time to celebrate our students who have demonstrated consistent positive behavior throughout the month of March! Our celebration will be on Thursday, March 28th and includes Upland Farms bringing their mobile zoo to Haigh for an opportunity for students to learn about and interact with different types of animals. The school will be divided into three sections and each group will have 45 minutes to enjoy the animals.

Congratulations to all the students who earned this PBIS celebration and for continually acting as positive role models for excellent behavior!

Thanks for all of your continued support,

The PBIS Committee
