They played really hard but ended up losing to a team from Marquette ๐Ÿ™ย  Making it to the top 8 in the state championship was an exciting experience for my awesome little hockey player ๐Ÿ™‚

Welcome to March is reading month! Please be sure to review your child’s packet of information that was sent home on Friday. There is a calendar of events, reading log, and information and permission slip for our school wide read-a-thon.

This week in reading we will begin our M-Step prep packet. We will review test taking strategies and practice passages that mimic the state tests. We will also look at test taking strategies to help students develop good habits as they work to do their best on their tests. This week we will also work on another literary essay containing a prompt to help us prepare for the writing portion. Students have made a lot of progress this yearย  in writing and I enjoy reading what they compose.

In math this week we will continue to strengthen our understanding of fractions. We will take a look at the size of fractions and use fraction strips to compare them.

In social studies this week we will look at the the roles and responsibilities in the three levels of government. We will discuss laws that are made for local, state, and federal governments.

In science we will continue to work through our unit of animals over time and investigate what animals might look like in the future.

Looking forward to another great week at Haigh ๐Ÿ™‚
