To celebrate this amazing accomplishment of being 100 days smarter, we are asking parents to decorate a white t-shirt at home with your child. The t-shirt should have 100 items or represent the number 100 in some way. You may do this with puffy paint, glow-in-dark paint, by sewing on felt, using fabric glue to adhere items, etc. Get creative! Please complete this t-shirt at home and send your child to school wearing the t-shirt on the 100th day of school, which is, Thursday, February 6th! We cannot wait to see all the t-shirt designs! Please provide a healthy snack for your child each day! No chips, candy, cookies/cupcakes or juice are allowed for snack. Thank you for your cooperation in promoting a healthy lifestyle for your child:).
Make sure you provide your child with a NUT FREE snack. We are a NUT FREE classroom. Thank you for your cooperation!
Please make sure to go through your child’s folder each night, look at your child’s work (see how they did), look at behavior, read any notes and sign in each day.
Every Monday is library check out! Please make sure your child is returning his/her book so they can check out a new book for the week. If you misplace this book or lose it, there will be a cost for the missing book!
Every Friday will be Kindergarten/Haigh t-shirt day! We love being in the same shirts and showing our Kinder pride at Haigh! If your child forgets to wear their shirt, it’s ok, they can wear a Haigh shirt instead (if they have one). The Haigh Owl Pride committee is going around to each classroom each Friday to tally up how many kids are in spirit wear! The class with the most participants for the month wins a trophy to keep in their room!! Let’s show Haigh that Room 42 has the most spirit! 🙂
Spare change challenge- The PTA has come up with a fun way to collect loose change at school! The intent for the challenge is to raise money to go back to each grade level. In order to include the specials teachers, we will take a small amount from each grade level and divide that between the specials teachers. The money raised may be used for whatever the teachers feel they need for their classrooms. The contest will continue until the bottles are filled, but the first grade level to fill all of their bottles wins an Ice Cream Social.

Timeline Project:We are getting to know each other in Kindergarten! A great way to get to know each other is by learning about our timeline (history)! You and your child will create a timeline project using events from their own lives! Some examples of important events are: birth, began to crawl, first steps, lost tooth, etc. This is a wonderful project that will allow your child to present their experiences to their peers in class. Please be sure to involve your child in the creation process so they are able to stand up and speak about the poster to their friends!
On the timeline, please include 5 pictures or drawings and a very short heading under each event. Please limit to ONLY 5 events on the poster board. The project should also be done chronologically starting with birth. Please make sure the project is displayed horizontally, so students are able to see the progression from left to right. Your child may decorate their timeline any way they choose…be as creative as you would like:)
We hope you all enjoy walking down memory lane with this wonderful Social Studies project and we can’t wait to see and talk about all the projects in class! All projects are due to school by Thursday, January 23rd. Thank you!
