Week 6 Results are IN!

Thank you to my families who have viewed my videos on Seesaw!  I am hoping these videos will help you better understand RAZ-kids and using Seesaw!  I will post 2 new videos next week on Seesaw:) Be on the lookout! 

FAMILIES!!  Wow!!  We had a great 6th week at home learning!  Here is a recap of our online success… 

RAZ kids- I had 20 students log onto RAZ kids this week, which is an 83% participation rate…I am ONE happy teacher!   I have noticed some great reading minutes this week from 20 of my students!  Please make sure to watch my video on making sure your child is reading at a Kindergarten grade level on RAZ kids!  Keep up the great work at home and remember, students should be reading 20 minutes a day!  I am tracking the minutes your child is reading at home!

Let’s congratulate these students for being on grade level and ABOVE!!  I am so proud of them!!  Woo HOO!!

Seesaw-  I love being able to see all of your hard work on Seesaw!  

Seesaw Sight Words- 91% of my students uploaded their weekend writing! I have the majority of my students reading the 1st and 2nd grade lists with 100% accuracy and fluency!  That is outstanding!!!  Parents, please make sure you are going to revisit your child’s activities to read the comments and or suggestions.  Thank you for your continued support<3 

Seesaw Eureka Math-Lesson 17– 22 students (91%)  submitted their activity!  Remember: Your child should be completing the math worksheet for 15 minutes and use the remaining 15 minutes on MATH SEEDS for additional practice!  Thank you:)

Seesaw Blends<3–  91% of my students completed the blends activity. I was impressed at my students who knew their missing blends and who could read them!  Way to go Kindergarten:)

Seesaw -ug word family work- 91% submitted their activity! We rocked out another great word family activity this week!  My students are doing a great job at their spelling words!

Seesaw Show ‘N Tell– The videos are still coming in and I LOVE each and every one of them.  We learn something new each week about our friends and I truly love that about this activity!  Keep the videos coming!  

Math seeds- We had 20 students log into mathseeds this week!  WOW, that’s awesome! Please make sure your child is completing at least 15 minutes each day on Mathseeds to strengthen their math skills:)

Reading Eggs- I had 18 students log into reading eggs this week.  In addition to RAZ kids, I can monitor your child’s reading activities and lessons on reading eggs as well!  Another great program that Haigh offers to our families:)

Side note: In addition to the 5 seesaw activities a week, please make sure your child is learning their sight words (100 total or more)/spelling words, completing 1 eureka math lesson a day with 15 minutes of Math Seeds, RAZ-kids OR Reading Eggs for 20 minutes and 1 writing prompt a day as well:)  Thank you for rocking this remote learning at home with me!

Week 5 Results…We are better TOGETHER!

I will give my families an update about Google Meets and how we will move forward. Thank you for your flexibility during this time!

**If you filled out a form to pick up a chrome book, the pick up date is this Monday, April 27th from 1:00-3:30pm.

FAMILIES!!  Wow!! We had a great 5th week at home learning!  I thought last week was good, but this week blew it out of the water! I am so proud of my students and families for the BEST participation rate so far! Here is a recap of our online success… 

RAZ kids- I had 23 students log onto RAZ kids this week, which is a 95% participation rate…I am ONE happy teacher!   Remember, in order for your child to level up reading levels, they need to listen to the story, read the story and get an 80% or higher on the quiz! Please watch the video I uploaded on Seesaw on how to level up your child on RAZ-KIDS:) Keep up the great work at home and remember, students should be reading 20 minutes a day!  I am tracking the minutes and reading at home!

Raz Kids readers who are working towards leveling up reading levels:

  1. Mohamed is 84% finished with level A books. He is 16% away from level B!
  2. Amelia is 89% finished with level A books. She is 11% away from level B!
  3. Isaac is 70% finished with level D books. He is 30% away from level E!

Let’s cheer on our students who are leveling up their reading levels on RAZ-KIDS! WOO HOO!!!

Seesaw Earth Day Activity<3: 95% of my students made earth day promises of how to help the earth! I am proud to say that I have students who have big hearts and care about our earth!

Week 5 Remote Learning Activities for 4/20

Here are the plans for this week (link located at the bottom). It follows the same format as last week but has been updated with the new spelling words, math lessons for the week, special teacher links and minutes required for each subject. All links in blue you can click on and view the website or activity we have attached.  Please let me know if you have any questions:)

NEW: Starting this week we will be tracking and reporting to both the District and State of Michigan on which students are participating in the Continued Learning activities. Your child’s participation will also be graded for 4th cardmarking! Students who are on all 3 programs will be considered “MEETING”, students who are on 2 programs for the week will be considered “PROGRESSING”, students who are on one program for the week will be “LIMITED PARTICIPATION” and students who do not log into the online programing will be “ZERO”. Per district requirements, students who are limited and zero participation will be contacted by the teacher each week.

The programs we are tracking and reporting are: 

  1. Seesaw (5 activities each week)
  2. RAZ-Kids OR Reading Eggs- 20 minutes
  3. Math Seeds- 15 minutes
  4. Added: Google Meets Virtual learning on Mondays at 12pm.

The Learning Continues!

Parents, 

I wanted to provide you an update with what to expect following the Governor’s requirement of District plans for Continued Learning requirements in Dearborn. Homework and online attendance will count for 4th card marking grades in Dearborn!  Here is the press release from our Superintendent: Dearborn Continued Learning Plan

Grading: The district has now switched over to participation grades for 4th card marking . The grading will be as followed: 

  • Meeting: Student has completed all work for the week, they were active on all 3 programs for the minimum time required by the district (Seesaw, RAZ kids/Reading Eggs, Math Seeds). 
  • Progressing: Student has completed most work for the week, they were active on 2 programs for the minimum time required by the district. 
  • Limited Participation: Student has completed some work for the week, they were active on only 1 program for the minimum time required by the district (Seesaw, RAZ-Kids/Reading Eggs, Math Seeds). 
  • Zero: Students were not active on our programs this week. 

If you do not have access to technology, please let the teacher know!  To accommodate families, we have also included worksheets in our weekly plans posted on the blog every Monday morning. You may check in with the teacher and let them know you have completed alternative work/ worksheets for participation by sending them a picture via email, Seesaw or the Remind App.

Google Meets: Each week, I am planning to do a virtual  meet up with my students on google meets. Every Monday at 12pm will be our designated virtual meeting time:).  I will send a link on  the IBLOG and also Monday morning on the Remind App.  I can’t wait to see and talk to my students and families!

Few things before our meetings:

  1. Please try to join the meeting on a laptop, desktop or Ipad. If you join by phone, you will not be able to see anyone. You will only hear the audio. If you download the Google Meets app, then you should be able to view everyone on your phone.
  2. I ask that parents are on hand to help your child navigate this program with me until they are familiar with it:) Specifically, I will need the parents to show your child how to MUTE and UNMUTE during our video chats:)
  3. In order to view our whole class, you will need to make sure you have the Google Meet Grid View. You can download this view on google chrome.
  4. I am NOT an expert at google meets. I am very new at this and will be learning with all of you. Please be patient and understanding during this trial time…I appreciate you <3 

Specials: The specials teachers will be checking in to see that your child is completing Art, Music, and Physical Education skills each week. You can find their iblog links on the weekly assignment sheet that is provided on Mondays.  The special teachers will be grading your child for 4th cardmarking as well, so please make sure to visit their blogs regularly. 

In Summary…

  1. Make sure to join our virtual meetings via Google Meets every Monday at 12pm!
  2. Make sure to complete weekly assignments (posted on Monday morning)! 90 minutes a day!
  3. Log onto RAZ kids OR Reading Eggs, Math Seeds and Seesaw each day! 
  4. Participate in Gym, Art and Music each week!

Week 4 Results…BEST week so far!

Parents, you will notice that I will be uploading a seesaw activity each day (5 total).  Please make sure your child is completing them so they are able to receive credit for the online work completed at home.  Seesaw is in addition to the 90 minutes of learning each child should be doing everyday:) Thank you for your cooperation and support during this time. It is much appreciated! 

LOOK!!!! Google Meets: Next week, I am planning to do an informal meet up with my students on google meets! I will check in, we can say hi to each other and talk! I will post a video next week of how to level up your child on RAZ kids. Be on the lookout:) Please remember, students should be reading 20 minutes a day! I will keep track of their reading each week on my reading log.

Seesaw-  I love being able to see all of your hard work on Seesaw!  We had the biggest showing of my students on Seesaw this week and this is because of all the dedicated families in Room 42!

1. Seesaw Spring Break News!- 91% of my students uploaded their spring break writing!  This has been the best week by far of student seesaw participation! I had 22 students (out of 24) complete this activity…KUDOS to my students and parents! Parents, please make sure you are going to revisit your child’s activities to read the comments and or suggestions. Thank you for your continued support<3 

2.Seesaw Word Family (it)- 95% of my students completed their -it word family activity. That’s a total of 23 students who completed their spelling activity for the week! WOW oh WOW, I love it!

3.Seesaw Teen Numbers with Number Bonds- 95% of my students completed the teen number bond activity. The students did a great job using the 1 10 and ones in the number bond. Way to go families!

4.Seesaw Fantastic Frogs- 83% of my students completed this activity. This was a fun, informational reading and writing activity! We now have some pretty awesome frog experts in Mrs. Fillmore’s classroom<3
