Hello great people! Today, your child is coming home with their log-ins for: Math Seeds, Reading Eggs, RAZ-kids and Zearn. Haigh has purchased all of these programs for all of our students…how amazing is that? You may utilize these free programs as additional homework/practice or something for your child to do over the weekend! We will also use these programs in the classroom as well:) All of the information you will need will be located on the log ins that your child is bringing home, or you can visit our link on the blog that says “Educational Websites” in case the papers get misplaced. Yay for free learning fun at home!

Side notes: Your child’s Kindergarten t-shirt order form and money has been turned in and we will hopefully get our Kindergarten shirts in a couple weeks…we are so excited to wear them at Haigh and show our school spirit!

Also, library check out was yesterday. We had a handful of students who did not turn in their books. I am asking for help from my families to ensure that each Monday, your child is bringing in their library books to school! Thank you!

First full day!

Hello families! We had a great first full day of school! We did run into some minor issues. In order to make each day a success, I am asking for some help from my families:)

  1. Please, please make sure your child knows what they are doing for lunch. The lunch count took over 20 minutes because the children were confused what they were eating and we had to go through everyone’s backpack. Please discuss with your child what they are eating for snack and what they are doing for lunch before they come to school:)
  2. Please make sure to pack your child’s snack SEPARATELY from your child’s lunch (if they bring one), so they know what to eat for snack in the classroom. We had a few friends eat their sandwiches, instead of the snack that was packed (oops lol)!
  3. TOMORROW is gym day. Please make sure your child wear tennis shoes tomorrow! Yay for physical education!
  4. Here is the special schedule, please make note of this:)
  • Monday- Music
  • Tuesday- Technology
  • Wednesday- Art and gym
  • Thursday- Music
  • Friday- Gym day!

5. If your child does not know how to tie their shoes yet, here is a great video I watched with my daughter when teaching her to tie her shoes. Also, if your child is not quite ready to learn, buying velcro shoes will help make their days easier in the classroom:) We are promoting independence in Kindergarten and learning to tie shoes at home is one way to do it:) Thank you for your cooperation in this matter!

Next week: Full days!

Hello everyone. In your child’s Everyday Folder, you will see the newsletter from the week. Please make sure to read over it:) Next week starts the full days. Here are some things to remember:

  1. Please make sure your child knows what he/she is doing for lunch each day.
  2. Pack snack separate from your child’s lunch.
  3. Please provide your child with a reusable water bottle each day. No juice boxes or any juice will be allowed in the classroom. The juice can be saved for lunch, if your child is bringing a lunch from home:)
  4. Make sure your child brings his/her Everyday Folder to school each day:)
  5. Next week, the Communication Log will be in your child’s folder. Simply review how your child did in class (behavior), read any notes from teacher, empty out your child’s folder and sign in the box:) The log will maintain strong communication between home and school!
  6. Homework will start the week of the 9th. The Eureka math homework book will be sent home as well. More information to follow:)
  7. We do not have a schedule yet for specials. Once I know our schedule, I will make sure to post it for everyone:)
  8. When the temperature is hot outside, it is hot in the classroom. Unfortunately, we do not have air conditioning. Please dress your child appropriately for the weather:) Thank you!
  9. Please send your child to school with CLOSED toed shoes. We play on wood chips outside, which makes for a dangerous situation if your child happens to get stuck or cut with a wood chip on their feet! Thank you for your cooperation!
  10. Every day we will review our classroom rules. The students are still adjusting with the new routine and schedule, but with time, we will all find our groove:)

Today, we were able to get into ‘Word Work’ stations. The students had fun learning and playing around with letters! Here are some pictures from our day (please click on the link below):) Have a great Labor Day weekend! See everyone on Tuesday, September 3rd. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1-0e_bEwxSb2AYSzTYWlipWkxy23KNIj8
