Dear Families, We are launching STAR student of the week in Kindergarten! Your child will be coming home with a star student sheet this week. It’s a feel good activity that makes the kids really excited about writing and learning new things about their friends! Be as creative as you want with the star student sheet. Add pictures, drawings, crafts, stickers, objects to the handout…there is no wrong answer! This activity is due back by Friday, October 25th. If your child does not bring it back, they will not be able to participate as a star student in the classroom. Your child will be selected at random by the teacher. When your child is picked, we will talk about your child, look at his/her poster and write about him/her in class. At the end of the week, the star student will come home with a published book to keep and read for years to come! We can’t wait to celebrate our shining stars in Kindergarten! Sincerely, Kindergarten Teachers

Our Halloween celebration will be on Thursday, October 31st! This letter will explain the expectations for the day. Costumes: This year we are asking that your child comes to school already dressed in their costume. It takes too long for one teacher to dress every child in the class and causes many disruptions when parents are bringing the costumes in late. Costumes should be school and age appropriate. This means that your child should be able to get themselves in and out of their costumes by themselves in order to use the bathroom! We do not want any of the children to have a bathroom accident because they cannot undo their costume! Please keep this in mind when selecting a costume to wear to school and practice with your child how to take on/off their costume. Mr. Short has asked that all accessories to costumes be left at home. These items include, but are not limited to, masks, wands, swords, guns, etc. Costume Parade: All families are welcome to come to the parade at 2:50 p.m. Each grade will be called out and will have the opportunity to walk around the building 2 times and show off their costumes to the rest of the school! You do not want to miss out on seeing all of the kiddos in their costumes! Don’t forget your camera! Candy: If you would like your child to pass out some candy in the classroom, please have your child bring in one bag to pass out to his/her friends. Please make sure the candy is gelatin FREE and peanut FREE. Thank you!
Hello Families! Next week we have a fun, filled pumpkin week planned for your child! Your child will learn about the parts of a pumpkin, the pumpkin life cycle, do fun pumpkin crafts and explore a real pumpkin in the classroom! Above is the link to donate items for our pumpkin week, if you are interested! We greatly appreciate any donation that will help make this week successful. Thank you!

Picture time: Apple week was SO much fun! We completed our first R.A.N. (Reading and Analyzing Non-Fiction) chart, learned the apple life cycle, learned the different parts of an apple, tasted apples and then graphed our favorite tasting apple (the GREEN apple won:)), made apple necklaces and then apple painted! It’s safe to say that we are APPLE EXPERTS! Make sure to ask your apple expert all the information they learned this week at school:) Enjoy our pictures from the week (I also have a picture of us in our yellow t-shirts:))! https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/1–GuXS3OGDI2_aHmGVRmV3gRjR8MkI6z
Book Buddies: This week we met our 4th grade reading buddies from Ms. Cronin’s class. The 4th graders were paired up with a Kindergarten student and then they both filled out a survey to learn cool facts about each other:) We are going to love reading with our 4th grade buddies!
Hello families:) Just a reminder to have your child wear their yellow Kindergarten shirt tomorrow and that tomorrow is a half day. Students will dismiss promptly at 11:40 a.m. Have a nice day/night!
Hello Families, Today, your child is coming home with blank apples in a ziplock bag. Please assist your child in writing each letter of their name on each apple. For example, if your child’s name is John, your child is coming home with 4 apples and will write an Uppercase J on one apple, lowercase letters to follow. I placed the correct amount of apples in your child’s bag, according to their first name. I did place a ‘mistake’ apple, just in case a mistake is made at home:). After your child has completed writing the letters in their name, please cut out each apple and place the apples back in the bag and return to school the next day (Tuesday)! In the classroom, we are working on cutting and writing our names with an uppercase letter and all lowercase letters that follow:) These apples will be placed on their lockers, once the project is complete! Thank you:) Mrs. Fillmore
Thank you to Adam, Abbas, Maryella and John for donating items for our apple week! We greatly appreciate it! Make sure to bring in the donations on Monday! We are going to have some fun learning all about apples:)
Kindergarten T-shirt update: We should have our yellow t-shirts in by next week. Sorry for the delay, but the company has to make over 100 t- shirts (4 classrooms), so it’s taking a little bit of time. But no worries, they will be here soon!
