Indoor line up will now take place at the 5th grade doors. We will dismiss at our regular location, but indoor line up will now be at the 5th grade doors. Please read below…
Due to the cold conditions, we will be having inside line up today. Entry doors will open at 8:25am. Students entry line up is as follows: Kindergarten-please have students line up in the 5th grade entrance, 1st grade- in main entrance foyer, 2nd-5th grade at lockers. We have all our staff and support to around the building to supervise. We ask that parents do not enter the building due to our large population of students and the congestion that it causes. Thank you for your support and understanding,
Coats & boots- As the winter season approaches, more layers are necessary to stay warm! I am asking for some help from my families to help make this season enjoyable at arrival and dismissal. Parents, please teach your child how to take off and put on their coats independently. If you send them to school with gloves, hat and a scarf, please make sure they know how to put this on before leaving the house. A lot of students don’t know how to put their gloves on LAST, so they are having a difficult time zipping up their coats while wearing gloves. Please teach them to put their gloves on last because they need their hands to do all the work. Lastly, if your child comes to school with winter boots on, please pack them an extra pair of school shoes to wear in the classroom! We are trying to prevent snow, water and mud from coming into the classroom and making a messy and dangerous situation. Again, your child must know how to take off their boots and put their shoes on independently! I do not have the manpower to help 24 students get ready each and every day. I would have to stop teaching an hour before dismissal to help each child and I personally cannot cut that much instructional time from our day. Thank you for your support and understanding in growing independent children!
If you sent your child to school with ONLY snow/rain boots, please try to run them up a pair of gym shoes, since today is gym day and they will not be able to participate in snow/rain boots:) Thank you!
Parent Teacher Conferences- I have enjoyed meeting with my families during conference time! Thank you for supporting your child in their educational journey. We are going to make a great team<3

Dear Parents, We have been working hard to become successful readers. We are well on our way to achieving this goal, but we know that practice makes perfect! Starting Monday, November 4th, a green Kindergarten Book Bag will be sent home with your child every day. Please find a safe place to keep these book pouches in order to keep them in good condition for the years to come! Perhaps a special shelf or somewhere up high would be a good place to keep the book bag, in order to keep them safe from younger siblings and pets.
Please enjoy the books that come home and return all materials EACH DAY in your child’s green reading bag. A monthly reading log (in a plastic protective sheet) will be kept in your child’s reading bag. Please record the books you read each night. All you have to do is color one item on the page for each book you read. That way we know you worked with your child on their reading skills. We will use the book bags during reading time, so please make sure your child brings their bag to school everyday.
The following can be used to extend your child’s learning and help them read:
Check the pictures for clues
Look for spelling words (sight words and word family words)
Touch each word as they read (reading finger)
Talk about the characters (who are they), the setting (where did the story take place), the problem (something bad that happens in the story), the solution (how the problem was resolved – in class we say, “the solution fixes the problem”)
Retell (beginning/middle/end) the story.
Write about the story
Go back and reread! Good readers read the same book over and over again!
MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD KEEPS THEIR BOOKS IN THEIR BOOK BAG AND BRINGS THE BAG TO SCHOOL EVERY DAY! Please let us know if you have any questions and have fun reading!!! The Kindergarten Team
Reminder: This Friday, November 1st is a half day of school! Students will be dismissed promptly at 11:40a.m. Thank you
OurGlow Party will be on Friday, November 8th to celebrate our students being 50 days smarter! Thank you to all of my parents who have donated to make this day possible <3 You guys rock!
Reading Bags- Reading bags are coming home November 4th. How exciting! Your child should be reading each book in their bag, for homework each night, with guidance from an adult. My goal is to change out books bi-weekly, but if you notice your child has mastered the books ( retelling the story from beginning to end and can make connections), Reading Eggs and RAZ kids are great substitutions for more books:) Please use the 3 ways to read a book with your child at home: read the picture (picture power), read the words (pointer power) and retell the story. For your convenience, I have placed handouts inside your child’s reading bag for more activities/ resources to do at home with your child. Please make sure to color in 1 picture, for each day you read with your child, on the November reading log. At the end of the month, please turn in the reading log, so I can document your child’s reading at home and give them a hoot ticket:) I appreciate your support in helping your child become a successful, lifelong reader! Happy Reading:) These reading bags are to be brought to school EACH day for learning instruction in the classroom. Thank you!
