SeeSaw Information Coming Home!

Hello families! We have been working on Seesaw in the classroom. Seesaw is an interactive tool that we use to bring in technology in our learning! Today, your child will come home with the log-in information in their folder. You will be able to log in and view your child’s activities he/she is doing in class, make comments on your child’s activities and figure out ways you can help your child at home (if you see they are struggling in some areas).

Image result for seesaw

My goal is to complete one lesson a week until we feel completely independent in this new learning tool and will eventually build up to 2-3 lessons a week:) I think it’s a neat way to see how your child is doing in school and also gives you great insight into what they are learning. I hope you enjoy looking at your child’s work online:)! Don’t forget to make comments and “like” your child’s work. They will be able to see that in the classroom:)

Your child should be reading everyday:) RAZ kids and Reading Eggs does count for a day read as well. I will collect the November reading logs on November 26th. Thank you!

Name Homework (circles)

Hello Families,
Today, your child is coming home with white circles.  Please assist your child in writing each letter of their name on each circle, IN PENCIL only!  For example, if your child’s name is J-o-h-n, your child is coming home with 4 white circles and will write an Uppercase J on a circle, with lowercase letters to follow.  I placed the correct amount of circles in your child’s bag, according to their first name.  I did place a ‘mistake’ circle, just in case a mistake is made at home:). After your child has completed writing the letters in their name, please cut out each circle and place the circles  back in the bag and return to school the next day (Tuesday)!  Also, please have your child color the hat and cut the hat out as well and place back in the bag. In the classroom, we are working on cutting and writing our names with an uppercase letter and all lowercase letters that follow:)  These circles and hat will be placed on their lockers, once the project is complete! Thank you, Mrs. Fillmore

Newsletter Week 12 (Recap and NEW Info)!

Coats & boots- As the winter season approaches, more layers are necessary to stay warm!  I am asking for some help from my families to help make this season enjoyable at arrival and dismissal. Parents, please teach your child how to take off and put on their coats independently. If you send them to school with gloves, hat and a scarf, please make sure they know how to put this on before leaving the house. A lot of students don’t know how to put their gloves on LAST, so they are having a difficult time zipping up their coats while wearing gloves.  Please teach them to put their gloves on last because they need their hands to do all the work. Lastly, if your child comes to school with winter boots on, please pack them an extra pair of school shoes to wear in the classroom! We are trying to prevent snow, water and mud from coming into the classroom and making a messy and dangerous situation. Again, your child must know how to take off their boots and put their shoes on independently! I do not have the manpower to help 24 students get ready each and every day. I would have to stop teaching an hour before dismissal to help each child and I personally cannot cut that much instructional time from our day. Thank you for your support and understanding in growing independent children!

Parent Teacher Conferences- If you missed Tuesdays conference due to the snow day, I have sent home a letter explaining the new conference date. If you are unable to make the make-up conference, please email or Remind App me and we can schedule a phone conference. Thank you!
