Week 36 (Recap and NEW Info)! LAST NEWSLETTER OF THE YEAR!

Only 3 1/2  more days left of school…can you believe it?!?!?  I can’t believe the end of the year has approached us!  I feel as though we just got started.  I guess the saying is right…”Time flies when you are having fun!”

!!!!Attention!!!!  When the temperature outside rises, the temperature in our classroom does as well!  Unfortunately, we do not have air conditioning in our classroom to help us during the hot, humid days.  Please dress your child appropriately for the heat and make sure to send them to school with a reusable water bottle each day, with ICE COLD water!  Thank you!

Moment of Gratitude:

I would just like to take a moment and thank each and every parent, grandparent, aunt, etc. for an amazing year this year!  Being a new teacher in the district has been quite an adjustment, but all of my families made my transition so much easier with the overwhelming amount of parent participation and support I had this year.  I will miss every child and feel privileged to have had them in my class for the short time we were together…we sure had fun and learned  A  LOT!  My wish for all of you this summer is to take time to relax, reflect and prepare your child to be successful for the years ahead!  We sure had a great thing this year and I will forever cherish our time together.  I am always an email away…Have a WONDERFUL summer!

Love, Mrs. Fillmore

“Summer  Packet”:  I saw this online and thought it was GREAT!  I revamped it a little and added some ideas as well:)  Enjoy!

  • Teach your child to tie their shoes.  Find a fun trick, watch a video, give an incentive and be persistent!
  • Keep bedtime in the routine!  If we keep our bodies in a routine with sleep, August won’t be so hard!
  • Choose a few family members or friends for your child to write a letter to this summer.  Ask your child to write in full, complete sentences,  use punctuation, spell sight words correctly, ask questions and give details!  Include an envelope with return address and a stamp in hopes someone will write back:)
  • Review the hard work your child did in school all year.  Review their art work, writing, and the memory books they made.  They will be proud to show you<3
  • Sit at the table and eat meals together.  Really watch your child in how he or she sits on the chair, is there food everywhere?  Are they using table manners?  Work on that!
  • Encourage kindnesses wherever your child goes!
  • Don’t rush to the rescue!  Our children need us, but they also need to learn how problem solve on their own!  Let them take the lead in how they resolve problems!
  • Read TO your child!  Please visit the local library and make books a part of your summer days!  Let your child hear your silly voices as you read, let them hear you read!  Make sure to ask them questions at the end of each story!
  • Try to stay away from technology as much as you can…live in the moments, they won’t last forever!
  • Visit the recreation department and have your child participate in one or many activities they will have throughout the city!
  • Have fun and stay safe this summer<3
