March is Reading Month:  Today, your child came home with a “Paws for Reading” packet.  In this packet is a special calendar with all kinds of exciting reading activities you can do at home with your child!  Also, you will see a 2018 March Reading Log to keep track of your child’s reading minutes at home.  Each child who returns their reading log by Wednesday, April 11th will earn a special prize, if they have reached their recommended reading goal for the month.  The Kindergarten reading goal is 20 minutes per day...I know we can do it!  Make sure to jot the minutes down on the reading log calendar and on the homework as well:)

  • Tomorrow the theme on the calendar is: Wear red. white and blue for National Read Across America Day!

To also celebrate the love for reading, I will  have a calendar to sign up for a day/time to come into the classroom and read a book to our students!  My calendar will be located at the  Kindergarten drop off and pick up door; sign up under Mrs. Fillmore’s calendar!  I only have 13 available days to sign up for 3pm, so it will be on a first come first serve basis. I have stories you can read to the class, or you can bring your child’s favorite book and read it to his/her friends:).  ONLY 1 parent per day can sign up and please NO siblings.  We hope to see you in our room!  We  love our guest readers<3  This is what my calendar looks like.  It’s next to Mrs. Sarafa’s:

For reading month, we went with a LION theme for our classroom door!  Thank you to Ms. Tlaib for decorating our door and making it look fabulous!  Take a look: Reading is GREAT and we aren’t LION!
