As discussed in class, your vocab for 10.1 and 10.4 is due when you get to class on Monday. Have both ready for me to sign during your 5 minutes of technology-free review time.

Please know from 10.1: Queen Lilioukalani, Sanford B. Dole, Pearl Harbor, and President McKinley’s role in the annexation of Hawaii

You are responsible for knowing all of the terms from 10.2 and 10.4, as well as the answers to the Reading Check Question from 10.1

Here is some additional support that will guide your review time-

10.2:

  • the purpose of yellow journalism
  • TR’s cavalry unit that fought in the Spanish-American War
  • Why the US declared War with Spain (fought in Cuba) and what was at stake for the Cubans
  • Where the most famous battle of the war was fought and who won
  • The result of the war, according to the Treaty of Paris. What land did the US purchase and why?

10.4:

  • Who was president during the Mexican Revolution when we came close to war?
  • What revolutionary leader did US troops try to capture and why?
  • The US policy of using the US government’s force to guarantee loans made to foreign countries.
  • “Big Stick Diplomacy” that stated any disorder in Latin America was a reason for US military force in the area with the purpose of protecting economic interests
