Mid-Winter Break!

Mid-Winter Break is here already!

All assignments were started at school, they just need to be finished at home. Nothing new was assigned over break with the exception of the 2 pages in our writing notebook.

Here are the assignments for Mid-Winter Break:

Math: – Valentine’s Day Division- every question must be answered, then the picture should be colored. (assignment #1)

Science: Moon Phases- finish coloring your moon phases diagram. Remember to color nicely, there shouldn’t be lines showing from where you colored and didn’t color. (assignment #2)

Social Studies: 3 Branches paper- Write about the three branches of our Federal Government. Each paragraph should be about 1 branch. Tell what the branch does, who is on the branch, and how they are elected. Remember to INDENT each paragraph. You must also have an introduction and conclusion, for a total of 5 paragraphs. Remember that we started a graphic organizer together in your writing notebook. (assignment #3)

Unit 5_ Our Federal Government- essay on 3 branches <– Essay Prompt

Reading/Language Arts: 2 pages in your writing notebook. If you forgot your writing notebook, use loose leaf paper to complete these 2 pages. (assignments #4-5)

Dr. Moughni also sent home a reading log that should be filled out daily. Students are expected to read 35-45 minutes daily. (assignment #6)

All materials were provided before students left for break and I am even offering copies here on our blog. If you don’t have a printer, consider visiting the library or using a blank piece of paper to complete the assignment. Please be responsible and complete your work. All work will be collected on Monday, February 27, 2017.

Thank you for your help.

End of Card Marking 2

Today in class students high-lighted their missing assignments for the semester and wrote their current grade next to each subject. Tonight, 1/23, students should: 1) look for missing assignments in their binder or at home, and 2) work on missing writing or word work. (Word work papers are available at the writing center in our classroom, or on our blog.)

Tomorrow, Tuesday, I will meet with students to discuss any missing work that they think they’ve already made up. I will also offer make-up assignments for those students who would like to make-up work and improve their grades.

All make-up work is due by Friday 1/27. Late work can not be accepted.

Students are always welcome to turn in late work (until the end of the semester). I’m hoping this grace period will help improve student grades since zeros are very hurtful to a students grade.

Welcome Back!

I hope you’ve enjoyed time with family and friends over the 2 week break! My family enjoyed many meals together, time spent snuggled on the couch, playing with trains and visiting our favorite places around town.

Here are a few reminders:

  1. Dr. Moughni’s reading log should have been filled out over break and will be collected tomorrow, Monday 1/9/2017.
  2. A list of missing assignments was sent home on 12/23. Students should have worked to complete missing assignments. Missing work will be collected tomorrow, Monday 1/9/2017. The assignment paper must be returned and SIGNED by a parent, even if you had no missing assignments.
  3. Many students have been running low on supplies. If you’re able please send in fresh markers, pencils, and red pens for your student.

See you in the morning!

Mrs. Brady
